Anyone wear lolita fashion?

Post by sailorsv13 »

Hello,

I searched the forum and it doesn't seem like anyone has directly discussed this topic. I am interested in the japanese lolita fashion and was wondering what everyone's thoughts are on the style? And about wearing it in America? I'm not planning on wearing it to the extreme but I think it is really pretty and much better than the cheap junk I usually wear. I love the more girly looking elegant dresses. I hope this doesn't spark any overly-excited flaming against lolita fashion or talk about it being for the satisfaction of pedophiles or anything! I don't want arguments just constructive advice from those who understand the style. ^.^

Thank you,
~ Bri ~

I actually used to be really into the lolita fashion when i was 18-19ish. I have not worn it in awhile because I am fat and going to be 22. Not saying people who are 22 should not wear it... but white people age differently than japanaese folks.

Oh man, i totally worked in a pharmacy and wore my lolit outfit for our halloween dress up day..(mind you I was working at a neighborhood Wal-Mart store). IT was hilarious. I Had the petti coat, frilly bloomers and etc. The pharmacists was making fun of me because the old men wouldn't go away from us. LOL

Because I'm interested in cosplay, I've also had a fascination with EGL/EGA styles. A few years back, I was crazy enough to purchase like-new copies of the first 10 Gothic Lolita Bible using Yahoo!Japan. I think it cost...$75 to ship those magazines to the US? :l

If you make them yourself, EGL costumes can be affordable, although lace (even poor quality) is expensive. If you buy from websites like AngelicPretty...things can get VERY expensive. A lolita dress can run 40000 yen or more.

Unless you live in a large city (or a weird one, like mine) people will probably look at you funny if you wear a full outfit around town.

You guys are awesome ^.^ I love that bow RoboFlonne! Thanks for showing it to me! I am 20 (almost 21 on the 13 this month!!!) but a lot of people tell me I look like I'm sixteen so...I dunno. Should I care about the wierd looks? I mean, I should be giving everyone else wierd looks for wearing the drab clothes they wear everyday. Quite frankly I'm tired of the jeans and t-shirt look! I probably won't carry stuffed animals around in public...but I think the dresses and petticoats are adorable! I live in northern Nevada so I'm not sure if I'll find ANYONE to join in on the style with me :( I know it can get expensive...there are some sellers on ebay who offer lower prices...anyone had experience with them? I should really learn how to sew!

And yes we want to see the pics blueheaven!
