Buyer beware

Post by Kata »

I do not know where to post this so any of the mods want to move it where it goes I appreciate it.

Somebody approached me via e-mail the other day asking if I liked a certain cel. This cel I knew belongs to somebody in this community so I replied to the person that contacted me sure I like it. They replied to make an offer.
Since I knew where the cel was for real, I contacted the person that really owns it at this time and they said they still have the cel in their Gallery and they own it, and it was not them that contacted me.

I just want to make sure that to be aware of this person:
jérôme giachero is their title and the e-mails is: cracko04@hotmail.com

He seems to ask around and offer cels that he doesn't own. I talked to the person that owns the cel I was offered and they mentioned that that same person approached them as well a while back with cels that somebody they know owns, too.

Please be careful!

Thank you!

Kata

Wow you are very polite. What's the danger?

This post kinda worried me when I saw it and I'm trying to make sense of it.

I made a deal a couple of days ago with Jérôme for a cel in his Rubberslug gallery. I won't post his gallery here incase he doesn't want me to but I'm pretty sure he joined Beta fairly recently.

He's since removed the cel from his gallery and put it in a "sold" section on the site. Of course that's not hard proof that he intends to follow through with the transaction but he seems to care about his gallery nonetheless.

All I can do is see if the cel turns up and I'll mention it here. I've actually asked about this particular cel for a few months and he didn't want to sell originally since he was too attached to it but he finally decided to sell later this week. From my experience he seems trustworthy but my experience is different to Kata's.

I'll be sure to mention here if the cel turns up. As of yet, I have no personal reason to doubt him. He doesn't look as though he has anyone else's cels in his gallery either which is why this post really threw me.

Not telling you what to do or think, but I do have his e-mail with the image that he sent me and I also have the image from ebay from a few month ago and the image that is in the other collectors gallery. I have the e-mails this person sent me including the image that is attached that he sent me. The person that does own the cel I talked to and assured me he still has it in his collection. The cel has the squence number listed on all scans. including the the real owners and the guy that sent me the e-mails. The are all the same cel. If you like to see all of them I gladly forward them

Thank you!

I'm not doubting that this happened to you, Kata but so far my experience with him has been okay. If/when I get the cel I paid for, I'll make another post here to let people know how my transaction turned out. I understand you wanting to warn other people about what happened to you. I'd do the same. It's just odd that there seems to be two such contradicting stories.

Just thought it's back Kata up on this......while i can't not say to any other cels offered by the person in question......it was my cel being offered to kata without my knowledge. and while the cel is forsale, i never aproch people with things forsale and have certainly not given anyone permision to try and sell one off my items as their own.

Hi

This is a misunderstanding
If some people doesn't known yet; I really need money
All the cels I've sold were always in my possesion and I had any problem with nobody
Because I need money I research cheap cels on the internet and I try to resell them to people who are interested in
For that, I watch in the wishlist pages on RS
I know that the cel of crying freeman was not mine but if Kata make me a good offer, I buy the cel on ebay and after I send it to kata
It's maybe not correct but my intention was not to steal somebody I try just to make some profit
In the end I'm sorry it's not a good idea but I'm so needed money that I'm ready to anything
Sorry for my english

Ok I understand that, but you offered me a cel I could buy myself from drago. Everybody needs money, sure but you can't offer somebody a cel that you do not own or have in hands. You also used drago's scan and a cel that is in his possession. I do not agree with offering something you don't even own. Sorry!

I agree it was a bad tactic to try and make some money like that but at least he wasn't trying to purposely scam anyone. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to start a fight or call anyone a liar but I feel I had to post here as I've had a different experience entirely so far.

I don't intend to drag this thread back up but I just wanted to let everyone know that I received the cel from Motosua's collection today. ^_^

Even though he made a misjudgement on a non-related issue, I didn't want everyone thinking he was dishonest so that's why I posted here.

Ain't she pretty? ^_^
