Wishing you the happiest of birthdays sensei!
The Capricorn man is the zodiac's consummate sophisticate. An anachronism of the first order, he is a living, breathing anomaly who, while existing in a thoroughly modern world, nonetheless eschews all things new or culturally mainstream. Like some deposed royal, he is at once grand and stately in his demeanor as well as perpetually jaded, wistful, and dejected in his outlook. His personal protocol is to remain unruffled and aloof in every circumstance, embodying an ultimate sense of relaxation that remains his perpetual raison d'etre.
You really are the consummate Capricorn. Image

I hope you have another great year.

:bow2: Thanks, everyone, for the good wishes, and especially to :bow2: :bow2: :bow2: Vampyreshoujo, who actually sent me a package! As the contents were gift-wrapped, I haven't opened them yet, so all I can say is that they're flat, rectangular, and difficult to bend. After an early supper (at Red Lobster) I'll come back and open them, along with some others (my wife can't find where she hid my major present) and report later.

Transmet, :bow2: thanks for the Capricorn personality reading. But ...
... he is a living, breathing anomaly who, while existing in a thoroughly modern world, nonetheless eschews all things new or culturally mainstream.

I certainly feel like an anomaly, certainly now that I feel like I've moved out of one community and never quite moved into the new one. My home, increasingly, is on the way to the next academic gig.

On the other hand, while I'm an inveterate mainstream eschewer, but I wonder how kainophobic (afraid of all things new) I am. Last week I interviewed candidates for a teaching position, and they seemed pleased that I didn't need to have "blog" or "new media" defined for them.
His personal protocol is to remain unruffled and aloof in every circumstance, embodying an ultimate sense of relaxation that remains his perpetual raison d'etre.
Sigh ... I wish! This year will always be the one for me when I learned everything to know about different kinds of fatigue, and which can be fixed by a night's sleep, and which take more drastic measures. I'm happy to have come through it, and feel it's put me on better footing as I move toward retirement, but, like my time in junior high school, it's not something I'd ever voluntarily choose to live through again.

But now I don't! :yay :yay :yay So I'm going to shave and hit the road for the Lobster and think Crab thoughts all the way there.

Happy Birthday, sensei! I hope the crab AND the hard-to-bend rectangle made your special day even better. :)

I ended up having Pirates of the Caribbean jumbo shrimp (butterflied with coconut crusting and pina colada dip ... yum!) Then off to Barnes & Noble where I got (among other things) the two most recent volumes of Fruits Basket, then home for presents. I got:
  • Volume 1 of Yotsuba&! from my daughter
A handy travel bag, suitable for carrying papers and books back and forth from Cephiro to Arl
A popular history of the evolution of cyberspace
    and ...
2 nice Tonde Buurin cels from Vampyreshoujo, one an ED cel, one of the best I've seen!
Thank you everyone! I think I'm ready for 58 more years, if the nice cels and decent people hold out that long...
