The wheel turns

Post by Xelloss »

Sometimes things end up back where they started... and sometimes it's for the best.

Short story (read my rubberslug blog for long version).

I found out about captioning service at work, and now can understand what's going on in meetings and interviews thanks to a person with a court stenography set typing in what everyone is saying (I should so learn sign language).

I'm transferring at work... I'm going to be a developer, and moved out of test -- first day is the 25th - I'm very excited about it and happy. I'm going to be working on games, and it should be a lot of fun. Ironically, the team I move to is more or less a remake from the team I moved from that was disbanded... it's like I'm back where I'm started, in a very similar role... but now with the title change, it will be much more difficult for management to change my role that way again :-D Even more amusing, the new team has a significant percentage of people on it from the group that I was on that was originally broken up. My first day is the 25th

I'm giving a lecture on game debugging at a game development conference in San Francisco in a week and a half. I've been working on it for months... I'm both excited and nervous. I'm also going to be info gathering for my old team and recruiting for my new team the week I'm there, which should be interesting. I'm going to attend the Video Games Live concert there as well. It will be interesting to see how it compares to the Play! A Video Game Symphony I went to last month. At least I still have some of my hearing left at the moment, got to make the most of it ^_^

My boyfriend and I broke up... but really, I'm ok with it. In a sense, it's like a huge burden has been lifted off of me. I moved out of the house we lived in together... and right back into the apartment I lived in before the point. The exact same apartment... just happened to be vacant, waiting for me. It felt like home the moment I walked in the door. It's good to be back.

So all in all, things are looking up... and I'm back to where I was a couple of years ago, which leaves me much happier I've been in the mean time. I will hopefully have time in mid-March to update my gallery... I'm kind of booked until then -- my parents are coming to visit right after I get back from the week long CA trip, so it's still going to be busy for awhile.

I'll catch up soon, I promise ^^;

I'm very happy for you. It's better to be on your own than in a relationship that isn't going well.

Congrats (sorta) on the new (sorta) job! :P

I hope it's different enough that you don't feel like you're in the same old job again.

I started learning sign language in girl scouts, it's not too bad. You should start learning. Especially since you can hear and can converse with your teacher. It was useful when I worked that the mall, in High School, when a deaf person came in and they needed some help (of course they would also carry a note pad and pen, but I understood when they said "Thank You" and I could reply "You're Welcome" :D ).

The new job is completely different than the job I've been in the last couple of years... but kinda similar to the job I had before then, which I really liked. It's definitely a step in the right direction :-D

I do know a few signs, but not many... got so much to learn ^^;

Try asking the Milk Mystic.

To quote one of my favorite movies, "The way forward is sometimes the way back." :D It sounds like things are going well for you! Good luck!

And it's so weird, I was JUST thinking about learning ASL! :)

The twists and turns in life can be so funny.

I admit I don't visit this section very often so I didn't know about your situation. Still, it sounds like you are going to be in a much happier and familiar place now. Congrats. :)

Lynxa's Labyrinth quote says it perfectly.

Oh. Still how long? Hmm. Describe your surroundings.
