Buyer Beware: http://www.animemuseum.biz/

Post by beatrush »

Update:
Well it has been over 2 months and still no word from Stephen. Guess I am out $120 bucks.

==================================

First and foremost, I would like to clarify off the bat that I am in no way out to tarnish Anime Museum or Stephen. I know many of you have had successful transactions with him in the past. However, pray to god nothing goes wrong with your order; you might end up having an experience like I had.

This is a tad long so I apologize.

At the beginning of February, 2008, I placed an order for a $45 cel on the site. I had a bad experience with them before where my last cel was lost in the mail for 2 months, but I figured, it happens.

45 days later, I get an invoice for my cel. I pay for my cel the day I get the invoice.

2 weeks later (April), I get a confirmation of payment and that my cel would be shipped out the following day.

About a month later, I get a frantic email saying “Sorry but I sent you the wrong cels, Please contact me ASAP so I can get you your correct cels.” with 2 images of some La Blue Girl cels. The next day they arrive. I email Stephen asking if I should send back the cels to him and what happened to my cels.

2 weeks later I get a response (end of May) “Sorry but I sent you the wrong cels, Please contact me ASAP so I can get you your correct cels.” I though, wtf, so I emailed him back again saying I did get the cels and that I was wondering where my cel was and if I should send these back to him.

1 month later (July), I get a response “I am sorry for the mix up, I will fix it” This is when I started to get annoyed, he was not even answering my questions and was taking forever to give me emails that had only 1 sentence in them. I replied again what happened to my cel and what am I supposed to do with these cels?

Another month later (this is now August), I get a reply with an address to some dude in France and he asks me to send the La Blue Girl cels to him. He also states that he would reimburse me for my shipping expenses but that I had to ship with tracking and insurance. Again, I think, wtf, why are you not answering my questions?

So I go to the post office and inquire about getting tracking and insurance for my package to go to France. It ended up costing me $60 because the only overseas tracking and insurance option was Canada Post Xpress mail. This would mean the cel would get to France in 1 week and would have tracking and insurance. I pay the fee and sent out the package. I then scan my receipts and email them to Stephen.

I get no response from him so I send the receipts again 2 weeks later, no response.

So now we come to the present. Still no response from Stephen about my reimbursement for my shipping costs. A package arrived in the mail today with my cel that I was missing. Apparently, the guy in France got my cel. He also attempted to use my postage on my box to send the cel back to me with EMS. That didn't work so I end up getting a $70 COD fee for the package, basically paying the fee the French guy was too cheap to pay.

So, this cel

http://beatrush.rubberslug.com/gallery/ ... mID=242852

has costed me

$60 US to Anime Museum
$55 US to send to the La Blue Girl cels to France
$65 US to get my cel from the post office

For a grand total of $180 US

So needless to say, I will no longer be dealing with Anime Museum. I emailed my receipts one last time again today, but I doubt I will see a penny of it.

So, buyers beware………………

Wow, that's awful Beatrush!

I definitely think you should get reimbursed for all shipping fees - including the one's you had to pay to pick up your cel.

I have not yet placed an order through Anime Museum, but I have heard good things about them as a seller. I do hope they refund your money quickly. The e-mail responses would annoy me too. Hopefully this will not happen to anyone else. Sorry this happened to you. :l

Sacrebleu. What a story. :? Well, Stephen has a reputation to protect so I'm sure that if you continue to harass him he'll get you your money.

That's quite a story, Beatrush, so I hope things get sorted out and you're not left with a loss.
In my numerous transactions with AnimeMuseum over the years I've not had a problem so I'm sure your experience has been an isolated case. Even so, Stephen could have made a much better effort to get on top of the situation.
Out of the gloom a voice said unto me;
"Smile and be happy, things could be worse".
So I smiled and was happy
and behold;
things did get worse...

Could it be that your e-mails don't make it? You mentioned last night something about another dealer in Japan not replying to you. Maybe your e-mails don't even make it to them. 8O Did you try sending with a Yahoo account or hotmail?

I hope you can get things cleared up soon.

Whoa - this started in February, and the resolution
keeps getting worse and worse. 8O Not sure what
is going on with Stephen, but frankly, I am surprised
he is not more attentive to his customers. I hope you
get it all sorted out soon. :?

I hope that Stephen sorts this out soon, because the way you have been treated is outrageous.

A few people I have talked to about this before the post all suggested that, but me being the nice guy decided "Well, atleast one of us will get our cels".

yeah, from what I am reading, I was the lucky SOB who got the 6th pull in Russian Roulette.

Maybe try e-mailing with another e-mail? Image
I know he is receiving my emails because everytime I respond, I get a confirm message which I need to repy back to and also his responses all have my previous email below.

Honestly, even if I got my money back, I still would not buy from there again. The fact it has taken 6 months to get a resolve and the lack of communication and customer support gives me no confidence in buying from him again.

Not to beat a dead horse here, but he's also involved with Anicyo's deputy service, which has been notoriously slow lately. :?

I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, beatrush -- I haven't ordered anything directly from Anime Museum in a long while, though I used to be a regular customer of his. I've never had any major problems, either, but lately with Anicyo there have been some bumps in the road. I hope Stephen comes through and reimburses you, though. It's just the right thing for him to do at this point.

Why the hell is shipping costing you $60 for a cel? Does Canada's postal service really suck that much? 8O

Btw, next time, as a recommendation, if you're dealing with a business and being this slow, pick up a phone and call them. That will normally get you what you want. :)

Actually, yes it does.
It costs less to send to the US than within Canada sadly. Also shipping is expensive unlike the US which always is fun to explain to people when I sell on Ebay.

Thing is with Canada Post, they will not offer any type of shipping with both insurance and tracking unless you use their Xpress Post service. They do also offer EMS, but it would have costed the same regardless.
