Forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section...
It is with some hesitation that I post this, as I am not really all that thrilled about 'outing' anyone, but I feel that I should warn the rest of you about this person. Mind you, some or many of you may have already successfully dealt with this person, but what this person has done to us is something that is often griped about here. (Us = myself & yoshito)
So here goes. About a week or so ago, we get an email through our Rubberslug gallery offering a substantial sum of money for one of our cels. Both of us took the offer with a great degree of skepticism, simply because of the price offered. But, we figured why not, so we replied asking for more information about them before we considered the offer.
Lo and behold, we got a response -- with seemingly good references. So, we decided we'd consider their offer seriously. We realized that the cel in question had sustained some significant damage before it came into our possesion, so we offered up this information and asked this person if he/she wished to withdraw/alter his/her offer. He/she did, and we took the new offer seriously. At that point, we asked for a few days to think it over, since we were going out of town. The person agreed.
While we were gone, he/she emailed us wishing to resubmit his/her first offer (he/she had lowered it due to the cel's condition). Long story short ( I know, too late), we decided to accept the offer. Upon emailing to inform him/her, the next reply we got was to the effect of "I'm really sorry, but someone else decided to sell me another cel, so I'm not going to buy yours now."
As you can imagine, we're pretty miffed. This person wasted our time and energy... and then backs out. Truthfully, we weren't surprised, but still. It isn't right. Needless to say, we will never again consider any offer from this person, and we would urge anyone who receives an offer from them to be prepared for the person to back out.
So who is it? Well they don't have a gallery online that we're aware of as of now. Here's what I'll post publicly...
