I don't know, but it's customary to honor its original designer, David Pierpont (Sith-krillin) on the anniversaries of his birth (Sept. 6) and death (April 7). He passed, sad to say, a year and four months before I registered here, so I never knew him. But it's interesting to visit the announcement and read the testimonials (still up on the board) and see how many old hands were there and are still around.

Itself a testimony to a lasting gift to the world.
