~Hiya Everyone!~

Post by Cherryblossom »

Hello Everyone (^_^)

Wasn't sure where to post but hopefully this is ok...

I thought I would introduce myself and just say hello as I have been watching this forum for the last couple of weeks thinking if it would be ok if I joined.

My name is Eve and I am from the UK. My story begins with my love for Cardcaptor Sakura which I was introduced to as Cardcaptors, this was on after I got home from Primary school. I grew up with it and never lost interest. Other shows were on including Pokémon which my brother and I also loved. This was my childhood and obviously everybody remains a child at heart right
So I was on Ebay one day and a cel appeared. I thought how on earth did somebody get hold of the original artwork??? That's where it all began I grabbed my first CCS cel 2 years ago for a mind blowing £0.68! My collection has grown but is currently only CCS but I would like to expand to Pokémon as well as some Don Bluth films.

I have not been collecting very long and unfortunately do not own a scanner so no gallery at the moment for anybody to view on Rubberslug but I thought about taking some photos if anybody would be interested??

Anyway thanks for letting me join I promise to keep the spirit of art collecting alive :)

You should definitely take pics with your camera of all your goodies and post them. But you can also find B4 sized color scanners for a pretty reasonable price now too, and that should do a good job of scanning all but the really large and bulky items.

And then, when you become super addicted to the hobby, you'll drop the $500+ on a A3 sized scanner, just so you can make the bestest scans possible. Huh? That's just me...? Oh... :hurt:

Anyways, welcome to Beta and to Rubberslug, when you get around to making your gallery. There's a lot of people on RS that own CCS artwork, so maybe you'll find someone that owns a sequence mate.

Your best bet for Pokémon cels is on Yahoo Japan, but you'll need a deputy service to buy from there. Pokémon cels are pretty pricey though..

Welcome. Glad to see new members here :). If it's not possible to get an affordable scanner at this time, I suggest taking photos ;) .

It can be tricky, but I've had good luck with indirect light coming from one side so it does not bounce back into the lens as a reflection. It's sometimes the only way with huge pieces of art, and some scanners have trouble rendering certain colors. (I've heard that this is because certain hues are "forbidden" because they are used to print money, so it makes it difficult to scan and print paper currency.) Mine won't do certain pink shades, so to get good images of cels with this color I have to do a photo. Good luck and don't hesitate to check in if you're having trouble.

Try Craig's List for a scanner. I got the second scanner I ever owned on there for $10. :D
Most are going to be older models, but it'll get the job done. Otherwise, yeah, photos are fine. :)
