Do you ever look at your gallery and wonder "Why bother

Post by glorff »

I have been looking at my collection and realizing that I have quite a few cels and sketches there that are something that I would not buy today. When I think about getting rid of them I go "Why Bother". They are items that will net out very little money after they are sold, but cause a lot of inconvenience to sell and package. :O

I have even thought about packing them away and removing them from my gallery, but that seem wrong too. :?

Anybody have any wisdom to offer? :o

I wish we could have more contests like we used to so I could contribute prizes

Hey glorff

Can you just post links to the so said cels and sketches? If you not interested anymore just try to sell them. Sure it's a little hassle but if you got a URL handy and they already online it is less then building a complete new page with all on it. Good luck!

on second though you could also just throw them into a "misc." category and just say on beta to offer as you please. that way you dont have to do much other than move them into one place on RS.... i double posted. aah

Yeah.. my gallery is huge. I mean, not as big as some, but enough that my collection is taking up too much room. However even after an offer period I only sold a couple things.. I could ebay 'em but I don't know if it would be worth the hassle..
Ideally I'd rather just have Slayers and Ah! My Goddess in my collection but that is not the case now..

Well that kind of happened with IY after well over a year of not finding a single cel I liked and the skyrocking priced I sold off about half of them.

But on those cels I get I really never cared about mostly included in sets on YJ I had to buy in order to get the 1 cel I wanted , I normally end up giving them away as gifts to those that would appreciate them like Zag who can always use a source of extra funds for her family and does not mind the hassle of ebay.

I know what you mean...I have to add about 200 sketches from Diff scenes and shows..0_o..the though of all of that makes me dizzy @_@
Not that I want all, I just bought them for certain pieces...like it was said....

Just put the ones you don't like in another section. I just put mine in a section called "Z Papa Bear" XD
I like the name...

Or maybe you can make an X-mas contest or something?
Or sell....you never know what people want to buy...I've been surprised at what people want from my gallery :P

sometimes i feel this way, but i try to carefully consider all of my purchases since they are usually very expensive, and do not re-sell as high later on. i guess that is always part of the gample with this hobby.

As you may know, I recently did just that.

I made a Misc. section on Rubberslug and left the message on Beta that they were up for offer/sale.

I found the income from selling these cels was quite sufficient to finance part of some of the more expensive cels I recently bought.

So it should be worth your while :)

I feel ya! I went through my AnC collection not too long ago and hid all the cels that I bought when I first started. I just kept looking at them going "ick" and "these don't fit." And I know they aren't going to really sell for all that much. So....hiding is the best bet for me.

Not sure what advice I can offer you. But that is what I did. :)

I have felt the same way, but not so much about cels but about sketches that aren't even in my gallery yet.

I went for several auctions for specific items that were showing and then ended up with all this extra stuff that I don't care about. So far, it's been too much of a chore to even bother with. But I'm starting to scan all of it. I'm planning on adding it to my gallery in separate sections and then see if anyone wants to buy some of it. It's a lot of work, but I need to get my stacks organized and put away.

There are a few cels that I really don't want anymore so I'll probably list them for sale at the same time.

Only problem is I've been saying I want to sell for several months now, so that hardest part is actually doing it.

I feel better knowing that I am not the only one feeling this way. 8)

Maybe the Christmas present idea would help, hopefully a contest too. :)
