In honor of the anniversary of my first cel (bought on eBay 7/15/00) and the arrival of high summer, I've done a "Dog Days" gallery design makeover and a fairly extensive update. It's heavy on paper, especially (appropriately enough) Inuyasha and Saiyuki, but with some pretty new cels for plastic fanciers.
Highlights:
Inuyasha:
Inuyasha confronting a mugger in Kagome's world. I have loved images of Mr. Dog-demon with the baseball cap hiding his furry ears, and so when a fine set of rough gengas popped up, I went for them.

Very nice update as always.
I really love your VPM cel of her actually smiling.

Thanks for the compliment, Gonzai. Perhaps it's a compliment to the diversity of Japanese animation art that I still feel as if I'm breaking new ground with new acquisitions. It would be interesting to look back through my cel-collecting email (5000 pages worth at last count!) and discern some of the phases I've gone through. It certainly doesn't feel like nine years of the same things, but nine years of learning something new and meeting new, interesting people.Gonzai wrote:Wow - 9 years, eh?? That is a long time to collect
the same things. I am coming up on 7 years next
month, and that amazes me.
Congrats on amassing a grand gallery in the last 9 years!!
Heh. I've been totally bemused by the cels other collectors have gotten from these moments. Yet I never put this on a wishlist, because IY cels tend to go higher than I'm comfortable with, and baseball cap cels especially high. So I've been content with visiting other galleries and admiring from afar. But when this lot came up, I thought it was worth a try. I did get a fight, but managed to nab it within my budget.toonybabe wrote:I love the sketch of Inuyasha with his hat on!
The surprise was how good the Kouga sketches were. They were sold as an add-on with this lot, but they turned out to be just as well done and more interesting.
That was a pretty cel. I'm only now starting to watch the series, but the art has always had an immediate appeal to me. I especially liked the ones where she seemed just about to smile, but only recently have I found some where she really seemed to be leaning into a smile. A melancholy series ... but not without its moments of reward.JWR wrote:I really love your VPM cel of her actually smiling.
Thanks, everyone for stopping by. The next update will have more CCS and at least one TnN additions.
