I added 3 Weiss cels yesterday. No Schwarz, so nothing to get terribly excited about. One battered Omi, one Maki and Yohji, one Maki grabbing Yohji (who is mostly just part of an arm and leg).

If I counted right, I've added 20 cels to my gallery since this update spree began (or 21, counting the one I snuck over from my For Sale page last night. I didn't mention that in Updates because it was already on the site and I simply wimped out on selling it).

Series updated so far: Flame of Recca, Yu Yu Hakusho, Slayers, Card Captor Sakura, Weiss Kreuz, Rurouni Kenshin, Fushigi Yuugi, Jubei-chan, and Hunter x Hunter.

Oh, haha, Schwarz cels aren't actually my favorite thing, I just particularly like some of the ones you have. I'm pretty equally interested in any type of Weiss addition whatsoever, even the secondary characters that sometimes get overlooked.

I'm not positive without actually re-watching, but I'd hazard a guess that your new Omi cel is from episode 14. I think it's most likely from the part where Omi got injured by the SD (leading up to your cel of Yohji lighting up his cigarette as he and Ken barrel in to rescue him.)

I didn't want to fully rewatch it while getting the exact details for the cels (I'm saving the next rewatching for when I show the series to my daughter), but I saw enough... I wound up needing to watch almost everything after the phone scene (I'm selling a cel from that scene, so I double checked it too) to make sure Yohji yelled "Maki" instead of "Asuka" later in the episode. ;)

Great, thanks, I'll check on Monday or Tuesday. That DVD starts with episode 11, so I need to set aside some time to accidentally skim through a lot of the DVD.

I'm really tempted to get around to rescanning the Yohji lighting up cel. But I'm really tempted to rescan a lot of things, so I should probably keep going with new scans for a while. I was also tempted to finally scan the cel of Schu punching Omi in the gut (it's mostly punched Omi, with Schu's fist and back). My 2 cels from that scene are not great cels... but I got such an awful kick out of that scene. Maybe next time I update Weiss I'll do that plus a decent Aya or something to spare my dignity a little. ;)

It's very rare for me to buy cels now. Of course I crack and do it every now and then (just blew it on a couple of auctions because I'm out of practice and underestimated sniping, maybe it's for the best). Mostly I have a lot of old cels that never got scanned, and they'll keep me busy for a long time.

Yup, it is "Mission Fourteen"...but actually after your Yoji/cigarette cel. Omi's leaning up when he hears the commotion of Ken/Yoji trying to rescue him. Then watches in horror as the SD "lights up" the jeep.

It's an awesome cel of Omi, too!! I owned one from that sequence in my past, so I know how pretty it is "in real life".

I also like the cel of Maki. She looks pretty!

Can't wait to see anymore Wk you may have! I think you need some of Ken, though. Heh...

It is. For some reason the image seems smaller (as in space-filling size, of course the scan itself is smaller) and lesser in the scan. I said "Ooh" while looking at in in the cel book, and then "eh" while looking at it on the site. ;) (So it goes, though.)

I honestly don't have a single Ken cel. ={ Hopefully I'll rectify that. I also need Schreient cels. I remember looking at a nice one of Tot in the past. Can't remember if I was thwarted in buying it, or if it was too pricey, or what. The image stuck in my head all these years so I must've eyed it pretty hard.

Ken fell to the bottom of my Weiss favourites (of the 4 Weiss guys, that is) mostly because I can't fathom his excuse. I'm a sucker for a good tragic back story, and good reasons for turning into killers in stories, and his didn't work for me. Maybe it would with a rewatching. Or maybe he's just a thrill seeker. ;) It's been a long time, I really do need to rewatch the show. I can't even seem to remember what weapon Ken uses. (Shuriken, maybe?) I know he played soccer...

Heh, well that is why I gave a disclaimer that I wasn’t sure without re-watching. I have a pretty terrible memory. I just assumed the Omi cel came first since I knew that Yohji and Ken were rushing in specifically to rescue him. And I wouldn’t even have remembered that much if I hadn’t just re-watched it within the past 2 or 3 months because I had to ID one of my own cels from that episode. I swear I’ve seen the whole show about 15 times by now and yet I STILL need to re-watch it almost every time I get a new cel. I never can remember where something is from unless it has a tell-tale sign like a one-shot character in it.

Ken’s weapons are usually referred to as Bugnuks, but if you check out BeautifulAlone’s ‘About’ on rubberslug she goes into a lot more detail about them than the average Weiss fan, ahaha.

I think his excuse for Weiss is probably the weakest out of the 4, but it’s still fairly viable to me. But then…I personally saw more chemistry between Ken and Kase than I did between Ken and Yuriko. Don’t get me wrong, I think Yuriko was lovely, I’m just sayin’….

Also, you tend to forget since they didn’t draw his character with any burn scars but I’d imagine being left to be burned alive would definitely mess a person up, ignoring all the career scandal and stuff. And Gluhen and Side B later reveal that Ken isn’t the most mentally stable. So I don’t think he even needs as much of a ‘reason’ for becoming a killer as the others. It’s a bit foreshadowed just by them placing Farf as Ken’s Schwarz counterpart.

Thanks Sky Rat ...yeah, I do have a blurb about Ken's weapon on my 'About' page (I'm a weapons collector, too). They're refered to as bagh nukh, but honestly they're a fictious weapon more like "Wolverine" claws.

Ken actually has a rough past that isn't touched on in the anime. You need to get into the Dramatic CDs for that. He grew up in a religious background, and was raised in an orphange by a nun. I also appreciate the "normality" that Ken has, as this sets up for his future mental collapse, leading to his enjoying killing. He breaks that much harder, and becomes psychopathic! For Ken, it wasn't having a "tragic past" but the Weiss journey as a whole...which to me is more true to life. I feel out of all the Wk boys, Ken progresses as a character within the story. Like Sky Rat mentions, Gluhen gets into his broken mental state. All this is why I did my Gallery lay-out with a dark theme, using the 23rd Psalm, as I think it fit well.

You know, I always thought it would have been interesting if Ken did have scarring from the fire as shown in the anime. But then I think, he was still conscious when the fire was started, so I suppose he could have gotten away with minimal damage. Something to think about...

It's a shame many people only see "the jock" from the anime. There really is so much more to the boy!

I think I was last posting here back around 2003, when I joined. I only added a few scans to my site between 2003 and now (in 2005). So it was me being missing, moreso than you missing anything. The only 2 Hiei scanned since 2003 are the 2 I decided to sell... one I undecided to sell while looking at the scan, so it's at the bottom of the Hiei page. The other somehow miraculously made it onto ebay, but I cringe about it a lot.

I'll be very busy for at least the next week and half, and I need to update some of the series I haven't gotten to yet, but I do have a lot of YYH scanning I want to get to whenever I can. I've always planned to make separate sections for episodes 99-100 + the Hiei Vs Mukuro episode, so it's pretty high on my hit list to scan enough to make those sections. (And of course the 99-100 section will NOT include the little Raizen territory bit at the beginning of 99. Hiei-centric only.)

When I make them they'll be like my Flame of Recca fight sections: the cels will be in order of appearance. They just won't be as big because I don't have as many YYH cels. ={ (Expensive... or they were a decade ago, anyway.)

Eventually I'll have other YYH sections like that, too, but those ones are my top priority. The Hiei page is kind of big and in need of a de-bloating anyway.

Still lookin' for baby and toddler Hiei if anyone has some to hawk. ;)

I probably only noticed that her hair is green. That's my favourite anime and manga hair colour. And purple is my favourite eye colour, so she got me on both counts.

After reading the post below this, I remembered the claws Ken uses. Senile old brain just needed a little jog. ;)

I do remember my estimation of him and his personal insanity elevating when I watched those. Unfortunately I barely remember them. Watched the fan subs when they came out, lost the fan subs, am now wondering what to do about that because I don't want to show my daughter an incomplete set. I suppose at least Gluhen is out on DVD, I keep seeing the name Knight Hunters Eternity. When I think about Gluhen I can remember being happy to hear Schuldig's great laugh again...

With the out of control babble rolls I'm prone to, I can hardly say anything about it! Hijack away. It's good, because it reminded me that I did "enjoy" seeing Ken lose it later in the story. I remember being a bit startled by it. Maybe in that sense it's a good thing that he isn't an obvious loose cannon before. Now I really want to watch everything after the first series again, so I can piece these memory fragments together.
