FINAL Update! New Disney Ultimate GEM! Snow White + Prince!

Post by star-phoenix »

Hello All,

It is definitely that time of year where things pop up. Here is another update in the Vintage Disney section.
1939 Donald's Penguin Cel

This was on my wishlist for several years since I have been collecting vintage Disney art. And I finally found a gorgeous cel of Donald and Tootsie! In fact, this is probably the nicest piece I have seen of the duo. :-)

Jeanie dear, this is absolutely breathtaking! Not only is because Earle kept this for himself and declare it as one of his most profound-decorative pieces, but the colors and intricate style is absolutely stunning!

Concept arts by Eyvind Earle and Mary Blair are highly cherished and renowned in the animation community! I am happy for your superb acquisition :jump

That can hang in the master restroom of my house any day! :joke It really is a lovely piece, one that can easily stand its ground as a fine arts landscape. My congrats on a very fine and important acquisition.

Hello All!

I finally got in my huge wishlist cel. It is absolutely amazing considering this is an 80 year old cel.
For those of you that are not familiar with this cartoon, this is a 1932 Flowers and Trees cel, all original with the Key Master Background. This is the very first color cartoon short ever made in history (using Technicolor). I have been searching for a cel from this cartoon for many many years and this is one of only two survivors I have been seen. The scan is a bit rough, but I will have it rescanned when I get some more time in order to eliminate some of the glare.

Fascinating ... I find it interesting how the tree is made to suggest a beast with shaggy fur, antlers, and even a tail, all without losing its identity as a tree. The lizard forming the "tongue" is the final touch.

This would be worth cel-ebriating (new word: means drinking several convivial toasts with collector buddies over obtaining an especially good piece of animation art) on that note alone, but its historical value and its rarity make it a truly superb addition. Congratulations, and thanks muchly for sharing it with us!
