Congratulations! These are very hard to find (there was a batch on Mandarake that went for an obscene price recently) and always lively. I especially liked this one:

That has to be one of the tengu karasu spirits chasing Watanuki in the background, and it's interesting how his pose combines several different poses to give a real sense of motion even in a still image.

Thanks Sensei Yeah I didn't even notice the tiny tengu karasu spirit drawn on theresensei wrote:That has to be one of the tengu karasu spirits chasing Watanuki in the background, and it's interesting how his pose combines several different poses to give a real sense of motion even in a still image.
until I got to see in person. The movement of the sketch definitely makes it real fun to look at.
And thanks Angelic-lair! The baseball bat episode is also one of my favs..but then again I love all the episodesAngelic-Lair wrote:Great update!
The "baseball bat shopping" episode is one of our favourites!

Thanks Shampoo!! I also adore that sketch of watanuki w/ the monsters, I mean its soo like him! Its because of those laugh out loud moments that I enjoy this series so muchShampoo wrote:Wow what awesome sets of genga!
I love the movement and energy in the monsters/Watanuki
sketch! And how sultry Yuko looks in the profile one.
Congrats on acquiring sketches from one of
your fav animes!! It seems all the cg series now are
near impossible to find artwork from.
Its really a shame that cg artwork is so hard to find

Thanks Macron one! Yeah, it was a luck of the draw when I won thatMacron one wrote:Great xxxHolic sketches!
I remember seeing those on Mandarake, and it looks to me like some of the ones that weren't used for that auction's sample images are even better than the ones that were.
set at mandarake. I actually didn't expect to receive so many sketches
that were so nice, I guess I got lucky!

Heidi's Dream is a new one for me, but 1982 was not a good year for me as I recall, and so I wouldn't have been watching animation. (Wait! wasn't that about when the original Harryhausen "Clash of the Titans" came out? I did see that.)
Anyhow, the art from that is cute, but I'm very impressed with this image:

That's really an impressive dreamscape, with the mountain morphing into a giant (with a crown no less) in a genuinely scary way.
Congratulations!

Thanks Sensei! Hmm..I've never watched Clash of the Titans, but I looked it up on wikipedia, it came out a yr before (1981). It seemed like it was a really popular movie at the time. I'm pretty sure Heidi's Song wasn't as popular, so it kinda makes sense that not a lot of ppl know about it, like yousensei wrote:(Wait! wasn't that about when the original Harryhausen "Clash of the Titans" came out? I really don't know how I came to own a vhs of Heidi's Song, my mom must've bought it for me from somewhere Anyways, that cel of the mountain is even better in real life. It's a huge pan cel, so the details on it are amazing
