SO EXCITED!

I'm so excited!! I just won an auction that I've been staring at for a week. First one in a long while that I've actually felt the need to get up and watch the last half hour of the auction. And I won!!!!!

There were two bids in the last 10 minutes, one was an automatic snipe bid attempt from rinkya in the last 10 seconds, but it wasn't enough to beat my bid, so I won!!!

It was a set of three cels from Legend of the Galactic Heroes. One of them is this one:



Looks like every other cel out there, doesn't it? But if you notice, there are two characters on the cel. Reinhart (with his back to the viewer) AND Yang. It's from episode 54, the one and only time in the entire 110 ep series when the two main characters meet each other face to face!! The first cel I've seen of the two of them together too. I had to have it! It shall join my Kircheis/Yang cel in it's Empire/Alliance duality!

I can go back to sleep now. I actually woke up early this morning with a nightmare that the auction price had skyrocketed to over 30,000 yen. Thank God that didn't happen. My pockets aren't that deep.

I also spent almost the entire day yesterday scanning Teddy Ruxpin cels. I realized that I really need to rescan everything. I've gone through so many scanners and quality issues, and I want everything to look the same. Thank goodness for the little batch processing addons I picked up for GIMP, will make it much much faster to rotate, resize, and watermark.

Congratulations! The mantra "location, location, location!" obviously applies to animation art as well as it does to real estate.

It's still a great time to be collecting: but stealthy preparation against treachery, more than ever, overcomes the eager desire to obtain. Thanks for sharing an advanced peek of your new treasure (and better luck next time to the frustrated Rinkya snipe bidder!)

Looking forward to your Teddy Ruxpin additions. I still recall the creepy way our Liz's Teddy rolled its eyes when used the device as a cassette tape player.

Tweeg as Freddy is sooooo cool-I think I have to watch the Teddy Ruxpin Episodes in the next few weeks,ìt´s been along time since I watched the Series(about 1991 was the last time).

Thanks for all the comments. I also just got another new Teddy Ruxpin cel from a seller on ebay. I knew what I was getting, and it's not the seller's fault since he got it from an estate sale, but it does kill me just the same.



I knew it was cropped. I didn't really register how much was cropped. And how unevenly. At least it's an original background and not a photocopy like other cels from that scene (there's on on ebay now from the same part of the episode with a copy background and copy extra characters). The other thing, besides the crop job, that kills me is the tape. The original owner matted it (non-archival, and the inside of the mat was yellowed to the cel edge) and taped the cel to the backing. Unfortunately, they also taped the background to the backing on the lower right corner. It was three layers of clear tape, and I didn't realize it was pulling the paint off the background until it was too late - everywhere else on the cel it was taped just on top of the cel. At least it's not too much damage. I lined up the paint on the tape with the background for the scan. I love the cel, I'm just disappointed in the severity of problems.
