...Nope! My warm weather sound f/x stay on auto. Not only do visible players look lumpy and unattractive, but when I have sounds or music on my front page, they are carefully selected, thematic, and often integral to the way I planned my layout design. Viewers are more than welcome to turn off their sound...but if they are more focused on the soundtrack than the cels, my gallery probably isn't what they were looking for, anyway!
I frequently have my winamp going too. Nothing sounds worse than a mix of audio that's not supposed to be mixed. My favorite? "You just won a new ipod."

Yes, actually I don't. When I'm at work, I have to keep the volume up for my work related items on my computer so I shut off audio alerts on things like my IMs. (The audio is not continous. It's for alerts, which I have to respond to yesterday.) I don't have control when I'm on the web. And yes, even when I'm taking a 5 minute break I could be called away at a moment's notice to do work. The only time I'm truly not working is when I'm sleeping. It's good thing I love my job.

This only applies if you weren't listening to any other music before browsing. I like to listen to music while on my computer, so to suddenly have some random song playing over the music I was listening to originally is very disconcerting (and annoying). I appreciate people who do not have autoplay engaged on their websites.
I 100% agree with this. I would prefer to have control over whether I hear a site's audio track(s) or not. Sorry.
Well...I am the one with the dial-up in the group. While I don't mind the sounds, it's more an issue of getting pages to upload. More often than not, I just get timed out. So, from that angle, it's quite irritating. And I am not suggesting that the sounds be removed - it's my issue, really.

I'd recommend the Flashblock extension for all of you, since it virtually eliminates the problem of autostart for both sound and video. I use it in Firefox and not IE, although it's available for both. Works like a charm - and it would probably be especially helpful for people with dial-up woes.
...It's simple, to the point, and takes into account the grand importance of my gallery. I like it!
But really, Flashblock has the one advantage of turning every flash ad into a little symbol that you can click on if you are silly enough to be so inclined. That's right, DT...I know it would be hard to bear, but it's within your power to forgo the overwhelming excitement of knowing when you've won a free ipod.
Yeah, I've had complaints in the past about music getting in the way of their own playlists playing on itunes and such. But I mean hey, we're free to display our galleries as we please right?
Sorry for the inconvinience the music in my gallery might have caused anybody.
