Just an idea to improve everybody's cel galleries...
It's not actually my idea. I saw this in somebody else's gallery: in each page corresponding to a certain series, how about inserting the Youtube link to its opening theme? I see so many beautiful cels everyday, without having watched any episode of the series they belong to that having a look at an extract would be very fun.
I just did this for Treasure Island and Double X:

What do you think ?

I've been doing this for a long time now, but I only have a video clip on my main gallery page that I change monthly. IMHO I think it's a wonderful idea for visitors to get a glimpse of the anime(s) you love to collect cels from.
The only downside to this that I'm now experiencing is that those who have dialup (boy I miss my dsl) will be waiting a while for it to load if they want to watch it. However the good thing is it doesn't load unless you click on 'play' so it will not slow them down while viewing your gallery.
I'm glad others are picking up on this.
I'm starting to see more and more galleries with clips in them.

Yep I've been doing this in my almost new cel gallery and I think it's great because as I come to find out a few of the anime I really like are "unknowns". But I only go for the openings (or ending) credits. I'm not really into putting up whole episodes especially since I do want them to look at the cels and if they're interested enough in what they see, they can get the dvd or search the net for the shows.

Agreed. Recently one of the opening vids I used was made unavailable. Since there are many opening vids on youtube, nowadays I just make sure it's one of the older and favorited uploads. Usually they don't take those down especially if it has a lot of comments.kymaera wrote:Interesting idea, but I doubt I'll do it as I don't like my gallery having

Don't worry, Kira! You're not alone.kira wrote:i thought i'd be the only one that didnt want to do this.

It doesn't really bother me to see it in other galleries (as long as the video loads quickly enough that the page doesn't look all "jumpy"), but I don't like the idea for my own gallery.
I guess that sounds kind of silly, but it's hard to explain.

I usually get the op/ed credits from my fansubs or raws, use a program to clip the op/ed from the episodes, and then upload them to my photobucket account. (They now allow small video clips to be stored on your account.) Now that I'm on dialup and using my families computer I can't do this.
So I'm stuck rotating the videos I currently have on my photobucket account.

I don't think it's bothering anybody as it doesn't start downloading the video unless you click "play" first !redwolf wrote:I'm with you, too. Even if something made me change my mind, I'd use a link instead of embedding... accomplishes virtually the same thing without bothering those who might not want to see it.kira wrote:i thought i'd be the only one that didnt want to do this.
