35K Update: Hyper Police ED cel plus TnN and CCS
You’re invited to my small but nice Palm Sunday update, including four cels and one genga set (all bought before Mardi Gras ended) to celebrate my closing in on 35K hits (thanks, everyone!).
The highlight is an exquisite Hyper Police ED cel of Natsuki.
Also, from TnN:
Chibi-Natsumi in the graveyard,
Dispell about to attack Noelle at the Durian Comet Festival, and
Winged Mikael from a critical Ep. 26 scene.
Finally, hard-bit CCS fans won’t want to miss a smallish genga of an very, very big moment.
(Caution: Major Spoiler!)
Enjoy!

Fabulous update! I love the Mikael cel, and the background you put with it is wonderful! I also really liked the Dispell -- what a menacing, up-close shot! Fantastic!!
That Hyper Police cel is beautiful. Those eyes -- wow! And, I had to squeal at the CCS genga. It's wonderful!!
Congrats on another fabulous addition, and a super-congrats on getting to 35K hits! *throws confetti*

Thanks, everyone, for visiting. Only about 275 hits to go, so maybe by Easter! It amazes everyone how many visits I get, especially since on academic sites 1000 hits per year is doing well. And of course, with books, a standard printing of an academic title is 500, many of which end up somewhere on Edward R. Hamilton's deeply discounted remainder list. I had to come up with $1000 and forego royalties on the first 500 copies to get one press to commit to publish one book ... happily it did better than expected, and went into paperback in fact, so every year I get a little chunk of cel money from it to blow on Easter morning...
Thanks for the comments on the background for the Mikael cel, Tex-chan. I know from the other thread that some people prefer to get or make backgrounds that are close to the originals. Of course an original production bg is great, and a laser-print copy is nearly as good. But I enjoy putting a wide range of art papers behind my cels, and sometimes even I'm surprised at the results. The Monet got used before, behind one of my Palme cels, but it just seemed exactly right with this cel, even though the colors aren't anywhere near the original. I guess galleries have to develop a "style," and my use of scrapbooking paper just ended up being mine.
I'm very happy with the other TnN cels, too, and thank Vapalla many times for the Dispell, which was an unexpected Easter gift from her (in return for teaching her the satanic ritual for locating lost cat-girl cels).
Thanks also for the comments on the Hyper Police cel, TC, kira, and RoboFlonne. That one was pricey by my standards ... but worth it. The eyes in this cel are one of the best in this lightning-quick series. And I appreciate syan's comments (with those by kira, and TC) on the CCS genga. I have to be tight-lipped about it, since it is such a huge spoiler, but I feel honored to have it and get the insight about how closely the studio worked with CLAMP's manga image. I'd love to have a set of cels to go with it, but I'm sure they are all locked in Japanese bank vaults somewhere.
Nothing in the pipelines (except maybe some more PPGZ sketches I haven't scanned yet), so be prepared for post-Easter surprises!

I got to see all the cels first, since they were shipped here then passed on to Sensei. Yes, it was tempting to slip that HP cel in a folder and report her missing, but that would have involved too much bad Karma...
Those cels are all really amazing in person. Glad you liked that Dispell, Sensei. I thought of you the moment I saw that auction. You helped me get a lot of great things for my collection this past year, so I wanted to pay you back in some small way.

OK, NOW I can officially celebrate 35K hits! It was interesting that the hits were adding up pretty quickly, so that I thought the above update would push it over in a couple days, but in fact the hits nearly came to a halt (Spring Break?) until a couple of days ago. Now the wait is over ... Thanks everyone for visiting.
Thanks, kittens, for reading the long comment on the little sketch. It is such a poignant moment in the series, and the more you look at how it's handled, the more graceful it seems. That could have been a real five-handkerchief sob-fest, but Sakura gets out of it by just needing one (and then she gets to give it back the next episode, along with a turtleneck sweater for okase!)
Vapalla, it's a pleasure hunting cels with you, as we have compatible but diverse interest. There are few cels that we really compete for, and many more that we interest each other in. When I get a combined shipment for the Sensalla Consortium, I pack yours up as quickly as possible so I don't get tempted to let one slip under the file cabinet by accident. (And if Kitty Katsura had stayed in the package you'd gotten ready to send me, you can bet she'd have gotten a saucer of cream in return for staying quiet in my cel closet.)
Now it's time to get ready for a real 35K update, one paid for with my Lenten savings. Watch for some very pretty Rayearth cels, a high-wishlist CCS item, more Tree of Palme, and new sketches from KKJ, PPGZ (golly, that rough'n'ready artwork is addictive!), and Slayers.
