Those of you who followed my RS blog know that it was an event-filled experience, including a funeral, a trip to the ER with my wife (who had a nasty fall), a direct hit on the old house by a bolt of lightning, and no end of complications dealing with the move itself. And this doesn’t include the twister that went through the old neighborhood the weekend after we finally emptied the house.
But all ended well, kinda, though we had to box up everything we owned and then think about unboxing the stuff. Fortunately, we have a lifetime to do this. Here’s a shot of the new house in Maryland:
Although the lot is smaller and closer to our neighbors, we like the way that the development kept as much of the trees and shrubbery as possible. Our cat Oliver likes this too!
When the movers departed, here’s what the kitchen looked like.
And if that wasn’t scary enough, here’s the living room. (Another view from the other side.)
It took several days just to carve out some living/working space, but gradually, we started to settle in, and now, three weeks after the move, the living room now looks like this.
Oh, and the anime collection has finally gotten a decent home, out of the unstable shelves of the old closet and into sturdy wooden shelves where they can be kept in shape and organized.
Time for an update:

Check out two new sketch sets from the pretty but still unheralded Tenchi Muyo! spinoff, Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club, including a tearful Sasami and an impressive portrait of Washu and the magic teachers.
Not much is known over here about this series: so far as I know only the first episode was fansubbed. But advance word (supported by the amount of paraphernalia on sale at YJ) is that it’s actually pretty good, and as it’s been licenced recently, perhaps soon we’ll get a better sense of what it’s like. The art and summaries I’ve read suggest it’s strongly influenced by Magic Knight Rayearth and other CLAMP series, but with its own Tenchi-universe flavor.
Also up, two beautiful cels from the Tonde Buurin OP sequence, one of the whole cast in Biblical garb, the other of an exuberant flying Karin,
Finally, some interesting sketches and backgrounds from CCS, including Yue being zapped by The Void and another immediately recognizable background from Episode 40 (the “Dream” episode).
More to come including CCS cels, Saiyuki gengas, and, of course, another batch of PPGZ (we get to meet Buttercup’s totally insane parents, one of whom lives in his professional wrestling mask). But scanning, while now possible, is taking a back track to getting back a lifestyle routine.
Off to demolish a few more boxes!
