Huge gallery update!! (BGC OVA, plus...CCS?!)

Post by Priss-chan »

I added five BGC cels to my gallery today! Whee! I'm so happy, especially for the Sylvie one I got :D She looks so mean.

OTOH...I also got a CCS cel. I know it's not an (intentional) freebie, because it had a sticker with the auction number and the price it went for (4,500 yen). This is the cel:

I use Toru (Anime Dep) as my deputy, so if anyone uses him and recently got a shipment that was missing a Sakura cel and this looks like it's the one, could you let me know? I'll give it right back to the rightful owner! I'm not a CCS fan, and I'm sure someone's missing it! I don't want to deprive someone of a cel! :)

Really nice BGC update!

I haven't seen that BGC

I've only watched the newer one?

The characters are the same, but what are the difference plot wise between the newer bgc and the one you collect from?

OVA and 2040 are just so different, besides the 10-year difference between them. But here's a few differences:

1.
Mason dies early, in episode 3. Stabbed through the neck by one of Sylia's swords.
2.
Linna's not an OL, or a country bumpkin. She works at an aerobics gym, and love money and men.
3.
Priss still hates the ADP, but for entirely different reasons. Before she joined the KS, she was in a biker gang, and her b/f, the leader, found out something about Genom he shouldn't have, and so Mason shot him dead. The ADP declared it an accidental death, and it was Priss' quest for revenge that led her to (literally) run into Sylia, and led Sylia to recruit her.
4.
NO GALATEA ^_^
5.
Mackie's not a Boomer.
6.
2040 Nene THINKS she can fight. OVA Nene KNOWS she CAN'T fight.
7.
Quincy's not connected to a bunch of cords. And he dresses like a pimp ^_^
8.
Daley's gay (and redheaded), and is always flirting with Leon. He was one of the first openly gay characters in an anime.
9.
Sylia's not psycho.
Overall, the plot is still largely the same: there's the Knight Sabers, who battles Genom's Boomers. The episodes are loosely connected to each other, and over the course of the series we're introduced to other Boomers besides combat ones, such as the Sexaroids, who, well...the name gives it away. They play a big part in eps. 5 and 6, as does Largo, who's basically Mason reborn in a Boomer body. Oh yeah, and don't forget the particle beam satellites!

I have a CCS cel that's nearly 3 months overdue ... not this one, sadly :bawl

It is a pretty one, though, and as part of a bank not outrageously collectable, though the jester suit (Ep. 3) gives it distinction. It's possible that it was for sale in an anime store, and the sticker was put on it then. But no one wanted it, and so it eventually went into the freebie pile. I've often gotten several cels from YJ that still had these original price stickers, usually for about a third to half more than I finally paid on auction.

Thanks for being a good neighbor and advertising. If no one claims this cute jester, then give her something to juggle and enjoy her act.

Thanks, I've already done that, late last night once it occurred to me to actually DO so. Hasn't gotten back to me yet, but that's no surprise

All the cels I received yesterday had the stickers w/ the auction number and final price. MAYBE it was one that Toru never received payment for, but I'm just trying to cover all the bases here just in case.

It is a cutie, although I don't watch or collect CCS :) Not sure what I'll do with it if nobody claims it. And thanks for letting me know the episode, I wasn't about to go watch all 70 to find out

There are much worse things to do with your life. I still remember my first time through and wish that I could watch the series again for the first time (like reading Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy or LOTR for the first time).

But actually, you'd just have to look at some CCS "battle costume" websites or RS "costumes" galleries and you'd turn it up in short order. It's one of the first and best remembered of this series fondly remembered outfits. (Now if my lost cel of another great outfit would only come to light...)
