Sensei's 40.25 K Cel-ebriation, part 2 (TnN, MKR, PPGZ)

Post by sensei »

My long-awaited SMJ swag came on Halloween afternoon, and I'm busy sorting through it. The cel parts of the booty have now been scanned and uploaded to RS, and include some real treats, including: Plus three more lovely MKR cels, including The sketch side of this haul is much larger, however, and will take some additional time to process. In addition to my New PPGZ Gallery, added last week, I managed to upload my first batch of real PPGZ gengas, a set that matched some roughs in my existing "Fashion Show" gallery. Now I have the full evolution of this scene from layout through roughs to the genga stage.

(And, for those who missed it, I did get a whole bunch of Saiyuki sketches up last week, mostly nice images of Son Goku in a variety of moods from sad to soft-eyed.)

Looking ahead, I have a large number of beautiful new Hyper Police gengas, including some of the sexiest Sakura's I've seen (some completely undressed, though inexplicit) and funny new scenes such as Natsuki playing with the bullet fairies (bullet fairies?) Also, some drop-dead lovely gengas from Sasami: Mahou Shoujo Club. Whatever the merits or demerits of this series, which remains below the radar in this part of the world, AIC's art is memorably top-notch.

E-joy!

I'm always happy to see MKR galleries. :D I'm also glad that you got some time to put up those fabulous sketches and the TNN jelly scene too.

Yowsah. I love the Noelle/Raphael cel! The look on both of their faces is really wonderful. I don't know anything about that show, but you can tell it is a dramatic moment. My other favorite is your Son Goku. WOW. The Saiyuki art is always fabulous. I like looking at the variety of sketches from that same pose and scene, especially the super-zoom on the eye. Really wonderful!

Thanks for the reactions to the Jasmine Jelly cel. That's an image that has haunted me since I saw this episode, and so I've been on the prowl for one for quite some time. Shellie, the series is well worth watching, though for ten episodes you and everyone around you will wonder why in the heck you're watching this random, hyper-annoying show. It's very subtle, though, and the cast list of the seiyuu is practically a who's who of anime. Once you pass episode 12, you'll be hard-bitten, and images from the second half will haunt you for days, or in my case, until I finally track down "that" cel.

(Happily for would-be TnN collectors, I've just about gotten all the "that" cels I truly desired.)

Thanks too to those who visited the long-delayed Son Goku update. I got these in the middle of my move, and so it's taken a while to find time to scan and upload them. Having just finished "The Monkey and the Monk" (an abridged version of the Chinese epic that inspired both this series and "Dragonball Z"), I'm once again ready to add to my Saiyuki gallery (and here comes an Anime Museum sale, just in time...)

Funshine and Drakonia, I've never seen an MKR cel that wasn't heart-stoppingly pretty. I'd love to know for certain if the Hikaru was really OAV (as I think it is) or from a very dramatic TV series moment with wonky lighting effects. Either way, it's a stunner that I'm surprised I got without a battle.

The Sasamis are scanned and ready to upload once I have descriptions written -- probably Tuesday afternoon. The Hyper Police will need to wait as I track down episodes and screen caps, but they won't disappoint.

Ja-ne,

S

The Hikaru should be from the OVA series because of the white, high collar and the way that her eyes are drawn. I think the OVA series and TV series are very distinctive, but there are some instances that leave a collector scratching their heads. There was one cel of Alcyone that was being auctioned off awhile back that I still have no idea where in the TV or OVA series it could have been from. It's still a bona fide mystery to me. :)

As for the Saiyuki art, I have no episode clues whatsoevereth. :shrug

Thank you, Kristy. That's what my gut told me, but I actually looked through all the "Hikarus" that the RS search engine retrieved, including lots of gengas of an extremely cute mini-mecha and scads of guys doing some board game, to see if I could find a similar cel. While I confirmed the brown (vs. red) hair, I couldn't locate one with similar white and pink hair highlights. I didn't think to look at the collar! Your experienced eyes are much appreciated.
