I've been stashing things for awhile now, because I was planning to throw my gallery a "party" to celebrate when it finally reaches 30,000 hits. Well, I'm impatient, so I threw the party 1,000 hits too early.

Apparently during the sand attack, Sakura made "Fly" fly up tooo quickly and thus causing Syaoran to lose both of his pupils from the intense pain

omg, love the update. love the kero and clow book cel, the clover fancel (so gorgeous and detailed), the void, and yaone cels the most!

It's interesting to compare the Sand Attack cel to a screen cap of an image apparently just after this one: there Syaoran has pupils, has one leg over both sides of the wand, and you can see both wings. True, this is when he gets knocked off (silly, he should have had both hands tight around Sakura's waist!) but one suspects that this is a test cel. Notice how poorly drawn Sakura's hands are in the cel compared with the more natural modeling in the screen cap.

It would be interesting to look through this cut frame by frame to confirm this: I suspect that when you get to this moment you'll see lots of differences between this image and the one on the screen. (Or maybe not ... inbetweeners were often more casually checked.)

There are lots of test cels around for Ep. 42, so it makes sense that the studio was doing the same for tricky moments in Ep. 41 as well.

Oh! By the way -- congratulations, Rei, on a very nice update, and particularly on nabbing that Kero/Clow Book from Ep. 1. I was sorely tempted to bid on that one, but now I'm glad I lay back, since it's going to such a good home.

RoboFlonne: When I went back through and re-watched episode 41, this cel is definitely legit...but also definitely a filler of not so high quality. It comes almost immediately after Sakura and Syaoran are hit by The Sand, so I think the lack of pupils may be meant to show the shock of such a strong hit? Who knows...

Penguinton: I'm glad that you like that cel - it is very dramatic!

Kira: Yeah...it turns out that Rinkya got me a replacement cel...without ever telling me about it. Heather said she wanted it to be a surprise, which is cute, but it also confused the heck out of me since I thought I had a substantial amount of money refunded to me that I could use for shipping. Oh well. I'm certainly overjoyed to have her!
