Thanks, RF. The oversized Silky is really even more impressive in person. Hitomi Kato (character designer for Tennimon, as well as for Tonde Buurin and part of Revolutionary Girl Utena) really was inspired by this amazing outfit.

I've never been less than astonished by Toei's sketch sets. All that work for images that would never or only partially be seen by anyone. (But, I almost hear the animators whispering, "Osamu Tezuka-sama will see...")

That one is my absolute favorite. They really get a kind of Rudolph Valentino look into Sinbad's face (appropriately so, as Valentino was famous as "The Sheik" who abducts and finally falls in love with a European lady). And she's surprised, but also ... well ... curious.

Well worth watching, even if the plot teeters uncomfortably on the side of unintentional farce. Arina Tanemura has Maron figure out that Chiaki and Sinbad are the same by the end of the second manga volume, which makes sense. When Toei decided to order 44 episodes, they put all the filler episodes in at the beginning and get to Tanemura's actual story along about Ep. 32. (This might have been because the manga was still appearing and they didn't want to spoil the ending -- or write their own, which happened with "Chobits.") Thankfully, the series doesn't take itself too seriously, so that the genuinely dark moments, as with Tennimon, strike home with more impact because of the silly lead-up.

Thanks, funshine. As an academic, I feel obligated to display rather than just show, and so I'm always thinking about what random viewers need to know other than "I bought it I got it." I learn something with every purchase, and so I can't help wanting to share that.
And thanks everyone for stopping by.
