i think what you do is go to the .... (goes to own site to get it straight b/c cant think offhand......)

on RS homepage go to ...
1. my account
2. manage artwork (on left hand side)>
3. then find the series that you want to put a banner up on & click on it.
4. in the "series text" field (underneath where it asks you how many items per row you want), you do alittle HTML magic and 'i think' ... someone correct me if im wrong here... put < i m g > (w/out the spaces of course) then put the link to the image you want and < / i m g >

then that makes a banner at the top for every series.
at least i think thats how it goes.

can someone correct me on this?

what I want to know is how does someone arrange (like if you dont want them in ABC order) the categories on your homepage and how do you space them apart?
like, for example, you see how mine are more close together than this other person's?
darknightcels.rubberslug.com
as opposed to this person's being spaced in some places...

how do you do that? :?

Okay.. so I had this all wrong.
If you do put a <br> before the series, it will put it ahead of any other series that you have in line. So for example, they are usually listed in Alphabetical order but if you put a <br> in front of a series that starts with F... it will bump it to first in line but below any series that have a * beginning.

So.. you need to set your gallery to where you can not see how many cels you have in each section. And then place a <br> at the end of the series name to create a space between that series name and the series name below it. If you have it option where you can see how many items are in each section.. it will move the item count below the series name like in the link I show below.

For this

-go to my account
-click "manage artwork"
-click what series you want at the top
-click "display near top" the series you want at the top. The option is located in the light grayish box where you can edit your series information.

There isn't a way (that I've found) to put items @ the bottom other than starting the category with the letter z

I use Zs too.... For example, if I make my gallery public again I will put a Z in front of my "DELETE ME - ghosts" section... >_> Or something. I dunno.

I never post here but I do know a trick about this so I thought I'd pipe in.

My RS Gallery isn't used anymore now that I moved my collection to my own site, but if you look at it you'll see that I still have Dragonball Z listing before GT.
http://bulleta.rubberslug.com/gallery/home.asp
That was important to me because I wanted the Dragonball series to list in chronological order, but if I just left them normal it would put GT second. So what you do is...
use spaces. :) html doesn't display the extra spaces you use so no one will know they're there. So to get Dragonball Z to list before Dragonball GT I just put in Dragonball*space**space*Z and then Dragonball*space*GT, obviously substituting an actual space for *space*. If I'm not explaining that well, you can view the page source on my RS gallery to see it in action. I had used a lot more spaces because when I had more categories I was ordering movies, characters, etc... all using the spaces. Works pretty good but sometimes you have to mess around with it to get the hang of it. You can also put them at the beginning of a series title, that will kick it to the top of the list.

Hope that helps. :D

If you want a different banner for each series, then the way Belldandy16 described is the only way--using your own hosting and html tags. Though, I supposed you could host it on RS by putting the banner up as a "hidden" cel, and hotlinking it. :D Working around the system there. Plus, I wouldn't call that against RS rules, since you're only hotlinking it in your gallery.

If you want a different banner for your home, wishlist, feedback, about, private, and links pages, RS does support this function. You have two choices: you can either have one banner for the homepage and a different one for all of the other pages ("subpages"), or you can have a different one for each page.

1. Go to "My Account"
2. Click on "Site Graphics" (second column)
3. Use the drop-down menu to select the page you want to upload graphics to.
4. Upload your banner.
5. If you want different banners for each page, do not upload a subpage banner!

Actually, now that I think of it, you can upload a subpage banner and a different banner for each page--the subpages will just have two banners--the subpage one on top, and the individual one on bottom.

The weblogs can't really have banners, but I've got a theory on how to cheat the system.

Umm... i have a question too *blush*.

What i'd ideally like to do is animate three cels together. I have a series of mouth movements for a character and would love to have them in motion:

Do i need to do this in a software package outside of rubberslug and then import it into my gallery, or is it just not possible? *wah wah wah*

Redwolf wrote a long guide about doing this in Photoshop here. If you don't have PS, there are a couple of open source programs that are supposed to be comparable. Try Gimp or Paint.net.

If you're looking for something a little easier (and probably lower in quality) download UnFREEz. It's free. All you have to do is convert your images to gifs (so they end in .gif rather than .jpg), open the program, and drag-n-drop them into it. The downside is that you can't control each individual image--they're each onscreen for the same amount of time, though you can control how much that is.

How do you do that?
Here's how I do it:

1. I take an image I want as the banner for one particular gallery and edit it so that it is 600 pixels wide. Height can be variable but I like 300 pixels. (The banner width will determine the width of the gallery below. If your gallery looks better in a narrower format, then you can use 450 pixels width or whatever.)

2. Then I upload it to my image housing site on Photobucket. They have a free option but I pay the extra because I also house a lot of animations that take up extra space. The uploading is menu-driven and super easy, but it saves a lot of time later if you create a special Album just for "Gallery Banners" and put them all together.

3. When the image uploads, Photobucket automatically writes the language you use to make the image appear on another page. The options appear under the thumbnail in your album. You just click on "HTML Code" and your computer automatically copies it onto the clipboard.

4. Go to Rubberslug and log into "My Account." Go to "Manage Artwork." Click on the gallery where you want to use the image. Paste the HTML code into the "Series Text" box. Click "Update Series Information."

5. Badda bing. Bask in your gallery's new visual awesomeness.

6. Repeat for each gallery that you want to grace with a unique banner.

(You can also click "IMG Code" in Photobucket for the code that would make images appear in Beta, which uses a different style of markup language.)

I think the ultimate people to ask slug questions to are either Gabe or Jenn because they always have such unique designs on their sites that I never knew you could do on the slug. :drool
