music on your website

Post by Belldandy16 »

i never knew the music that we play on our sites were giving people with dial up problems. X|

id actually seen someone put music on their site one time and thought that was a cool addition so i put mine up but today id heard that some people were having problems seeing our sites since they had dial up (sorry ive never had it before so i didnt know that the music gave it problems downloading).

so i just wanted to say my site is now music free if anyone wanted to visit it. :)

sorry about that. id never recieved any feedback about the subject so i never knew. :hurt:

I am the same way kathpatty. It is my gallery, and I like to look at some of my collections with music when I visit...so I feel bad for those with dial up but still not going to take the music down ^.^

I think I am going to take the automatic play feature off of my music player so people will have the choice of whether or not to listen to the music. I can see how this would be annoying to some people, but I agree with sailorsv13 and kathpatty: It is my gallery and I like the music. I also visit my gallery and listen to the music when I am working on projects - there is a lot of music on there that I cannot find on itunes and it is all from series/movies that I collect from.

I think music players add a nice dimension to people's galleries. There have been a couple of times where I have gotten really interested in watching an anime I've never seen before because I liked the music on someone's gallery.

I don't have any music up, but it doesn't bother me hearing it in others' galleries.

I didn't know it affected people with dial up internet though. :sweatdrop

Honestly, if a gallery owner likes having music on their homepage - leave it up. :)

For those of you who don't already know, Belldandy16 is referring to my RS blog. No, I'm not on dial-up. Honestly, I didn't realize people were still on dial-up. X| I feel for y'all. I've been there. :hurt: But as I stated in my blog and feel I should state here, I wasn't suggesting anyone take down their music players. My rant was about players that automatically turn on. Those galleries just won't get hits from me but so what. If a gallery owner is happy with how they've decorated their gallery, that's all that matters. I always figure I'm the only one who ever looks at mine anyway. :^^:

I read the blog... While I love my music :D I can have it but leave it optional to others by stopping the autoplay function...
It is the easiest :)

Erm? The speakers on my home PC have volume adjustment, and the monitor on my work PC has the same. I like fun noise when I view a gallery - mine, or anyone else's...but whether or not I want to hear it right now is clearly my choice. In other words, If I'm not in the mood - or if it's not appropriate - I can turn the sound off before I even start to browse. So are there really people out there who have no modern conveniences such as volume control? :?

I've got to remember to keep my headphones off when I'm browsing.

There's nothing more surprising volume 10 music coming through the headphones and onto your eardrums in one instant.

Ahhh!!!! 8O

This only applies if you weren't listening to any other music before browsing. I like to listen to music while on my computer, so to suddenly have some random song playing over the music I was listening to originally is very disconcerting (and annoying). I appreciate people who do not have autoplay engaged on their websites. :)

Same here.... I constantly have winamp open to play my 500+ play list, and it's really annoying when a website starts talking or playing music. ^_^; Making it optional to me is the best choice...

ahhh...I see....I'll make it playable when clicked, I didn't know that is caused problems :emb
Since I saw other galleries with music I did it too, but I did not take into account some stuff....

My dislike for music on galleries are mainly for ones that play automatically. Like previously stated, if you prefer music on your site, keep it. But please, please don't put it on autoplay :^^: . People have also said they don't like it when video clips are in galleries as well, but I'm keeping them in my gallery.
