Angelic-Lair: First update of 2010!

Post by Angelic-Lair »

Hey everyone!

Now that the Anime-Beta Awards have all but finished up, we thought it was time to put some energy into our personal gallery. ;) It's been a while since we announced an update here, but it's the new year and we thought this might be fun. :D

Hayakawa Naomi - While this section contains hentai art, the updated piece is a nice non-hentai sketch of Rei Ayanami.

Cardcaptor Sakura - Two new pieces here: a nice close-up of Syaoran from the end of the Final Judgement and a funny cel of Kero and Suppi together from the Second Movie special.

Dirty Pair Flash - We re-acquired a backgrounded cel that was previously part of our personal collection.

Erogos - A new section that features hentai game art. Not for the squeamish. Thanks go to Krafty for selling us such a nice batch of sketches. :)

Ikenie - This section has some nudity in it, but it also has some beautiful artwork. Thanks again go to Krafty!

La Blue Girl - We got an insanely good deal on these two backgrounded cels, and we just couldn't pass on this cel of Miko's chest.

Miscellaneous - The new items in this section include a pair of bouncy bunny girls and, in response to the somewhat cutesy tendancies of 'Mrs.' Angelic-Lair, a Pegasus sketch from Sailor Moon.

Mahoraba - We added a couple of new sketches from one of our favorite scenes in the anime.

Renketsu Houshiki - A new section that features hentai artwork. We had some fun animating one set of dougas that we acquired (click on the little TV to see it). :)

S.B. Project - A new section featuring artwork from Struggle Bunny, a fan-made OVA. There is some nudity, but the cels from this OVA are quite impressive.

We hope you all enjoy our update! Happy New Year! :)

Congratulations on your fine new CCS additions. We are sequence-buddies on the new Syaoran. which is a visually important moment, as it prefigures his growing respect for and attraction to his (now former) rival. I also took a little time and found a couple of other sequence-buddies in your CCS holdings that I'd missed before. It's interesting that Madhouse, like Studio Pierrot, was fond of preparing identical-looking cels and then "flickering" them on the screen for effect. As the cels are not quite exact duplicates, the effect is a subtle "quivering" of the image on the screen. I've added links to these in my RS gallery (if you don't mind -- I can remove them if you do).

The catgirl in the Struggle Bunny OVA

is really very impressively done for a fan project!

Thanks again for your work on the Beta Awards and congrats on your win for the beautiful Urusei Yatsura cel.

Nice update
Thanks! :D We've been building this update in secret for the past month or two... New Year seemed like a good time to unveil it. 8)

Thank you! :) Our CCS collection has diminished significantly in the past years, with our focus going away from it and to other series. We tried to keep cels that we felt were strong and represented the series well.

We don't mind at all that you link to our gallery! :)

In the past, we had noticed your nearly-identical Tree of Memory background, and out of curiosity, had looked at the final sequence on the DVD. It seems the tree "lights up" as Sakura casts magic, and the studio decided to use backgrounds instead of cels to make the lighting effects. Very interesting production pieces, in our opinion.

Many of the fan artists working on the project worked for animation studios at one point or another, which could explain the level of quality. We're very happy to have purchased these pieces.

Congratulations on your Beta wins too! Your "shocked" entry was extremely good!
