Google "Rubberslug" Pics

Post by Keropi »

I was looking at the Google image pic search for "Rubberslug" and found a lot of pictures there. Most of them seem to be only partial picture blocks.

Does anyone have any pictures there? I didn't see any of mine. Some of the pictures look familiar though. I can't post a link here because it won't allow me to get a correct URL.

That's interesting. I found two items of mine that both suddenly started to have unusually high hit counts, although there was nothing really special about either one. One's a layout of a minor Inuyasha villain named Rengukuki, and the other is a copy genga (still unidentified) from Mushishi, part of a set of high-quality reproductions given out as a studio promotion. I just assumed that someone had linked to these pages, or was using the images on his or her website. But if they come up every time in a search like this, perhaps Google is responsible for the inflated hit count.

Hmmm ... I wonder now how many of my nearly 65K recorded site hits are legit and how many are robotic hits with no real significance.

That was a pretty interesting search. I found kathpatty's Tamahome and syan's KKM. But as we all know, anything we put up on the web is free game no matter what we try to do.

There's a few more images of yours, Sensei. There's your featured image of Sakura and a Tonde Buurin cel.

I didn't find any images from my gallery. (sniff) No one likes my stuff! :l

And then I found some images of a rubber slug. I've never used rubber slugs when shooting shotguns, so, it was nifty to see what they looked like.

Just by rolling the cursor over the image doesn't give you a Rubberslug hit right?

You have to actually clink the Google image thumbnail pictures to be able to register a hit at Rubberslug?

Yeah, I saw those, but I was taken by the two "mysterious hit-gatherers" that I saw. I could see the Rengokuki being appropriated by a Yashaphile (or Yashaphobe), as there's even a MySpace site that's devoted to this character. But the Mushishi repro sketch

really is a mystery in every sense.

Don't sniffle, Amanda, be happy! Who doesn't secretly loooove Zudomon?

I don't really know how the hit counter works over at RS. I assume from the numbers that these two have scored that some remote probe is taking place. IM, there can't actually be a closet Rengokuki worshipper who comes to offer sacrifice at that particular sketch several times a week.

Or......?

googling yourself

Post by ginga123 »

wow, i just googled myself too and a lot of my Godannar stuff and a few SM cels came up on the first Images surf page via Google. (Makes sense-- I am currently the only RS collector with Dannar art. My high hit count art wasn't even on there.)

I never follow this stuff, but it turns out my gallery made it onto the Anime Cel Ring (#693 and 694). Anime Web Turnpike (Anipike) even linked me and Sensei along with several other galleries in 2009 specifically for our Princess Tutu sketches, backgrounds, etc.

Fascinating.

So someone added you and Sensei to Anime Web Turnpike on their own?

I've noticed through the years that cel galleries that have "gallery" in their title (or as text on their page) are more likely to get hits from people looking for "anime galleries" and "image galleries". Some people search for images using the format "[anime title] gallery" :)

google yourself, see what you get

Post by ginga123 »

yea, Keropi. It looks like it. I never got asked nor asked myself to be linked on Anipike, but clearly the person who put me and Sensei on there wanted to and even acknowledged that it was sketches we had on display for that show.

I am not sure what Anipike's intentions are linking me on this list. Maybe it's a bit of both?

I had a particular Sailor Moon fan club/poetry club/Image Theives post a bunch of my Hotaru M9 cels on their site and charge membership to see the "images" of my scanned cels. They didn't remove my cels from their image galleries and banned me from their site after I wrote a nasty email to the moderator and posted on my RS blog too. I know I am not alone on this matter. :(

Interesting 2. Thanks for the hint, Keropi. I did a search for "Sensei's Anime" on Anipike and got quite a number of hits, including Mushishi and Inuyasha. There are some oddities, too: NieA_7 and Grimm Masterpiece Theatre get links, and every one of my subgalleries for Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne and Tonde Buurin are also linked. But only my CCS Movie cels and TnN OP cels appear in the links. (This might be because these are the two galleries where I use the series' complete names, using the abbreviation in the others -- the same thing happened with the new series listing that is being designed for Rubberslug Beta.)

I don't mind: it shows someone is seeking out good sources for animation art for series that are not as high profile as some. It doesn't seem to lead to high hit totals, though. My Tutu sketches fall in the 75-150 hit range (including my own visits when I thoroughly refurbished the gallery), while the Tutu backgrounds, having been up longer, run around 250 hits each, with "Claw Nest," my "holy grail" BG at about 450 hits. None in the top 50 and none challenging even a tenth of the hits garnered by my much-adored Rengokuki sketch, now cruising along at 6370 visits.

I'm glad minor villains who get themselves killed shortly after the eyecatch of the single episode in which they appear get a little respect somewhere.

This is intriguing. I am also on their GoDannar list.

There's no galleries under SM; no category title for This Ugly Yet Beautiful World; and, I'm not under the School Rumble section... yet.

(Maybe they'll add me after I get that pile of new stuff scanned when I get Photoshop?? ) lol

I don't think the linking has contributed to any high hit counts within my gallery itself, but it may account for the high hit count on a particular revealing Anna- Godannar sketch set. Or, it could just be a guy sees busty woman thing... must click...

I noticed that as soon as I removed that "Create Your Own Rubberslug Gallery" text from the side of my pages I got less hits from random searchers. That "Gallery" text on the side of the page brought over the "[anime title] gallery" searchers.

Kind of funny how that worked. :D

But I do wonder how you guys got a lot of hits on certain items. There are people that search for images by using "[anime character name] gallery" also, but I guess that's not the cause of it. :shrug

I don't have cool enough cels like others to be listed XD

Pretty neat though to see what came up.

This is interesting - my gallery has been linked under the "Fate/Stay night" section?
Also listed & linked are the other three main rubberslug galleries which also display Fate/Stay Night pieces.
