Rubberslug is down for a bit 8/26

I got a message this morning that those attempting to log into Rubberslug were not able to and were getting an error message I passed on to Jason.

Per Jason:
"Hmmm, bad news. The hardware itself appears to be down. I don’t have physical access to it right now but I’m sending someone over later this afternoon. Hopefully it’s nothing bad."

Seems to be a server issue rather than a software problem, we will keep you posted as I find out more.

Just had my guy take a look at the physical hardware that Rubberslug sits on. It appears that the power supply on the server is kaput. It performed valiantly nearly 24/7 since 2004 and its time was probably up.

If that's all it is, the fix is relatively cheap and quick but the problem is waiting on parts. I've put in an order and should be able to do an install by Friday. It's *possible* that I may be able to drive down and do it on Wednesday but no guarantees here. Sorry for an inconvenience this causes.

I'm sure I'm not alone in saying it, but if you need us to Paypal you any funds for the repairs, I'd be more than happy to send you some money. I get a lot of usage out of RS, so it'll be worth it if it will help keep the service up and running.

Rubberslug is awesome as it is and I don't want to sound ignorant here, but perhaps the search engine could be improved on at some point? it would be really awesome if more images would show up from a word search

I recently discovered this. I was really confused why cels that I didn't search for started showing up. Never dawned on me that it was triggered by the description text.

And RS withdrawl?! Yip, I've got that too. lol totally, Jason, if you need users to help with repairs, please let us know!! I would be more than happy to help get things running again!!

The three bookmarks at the top of my browser are Random Curiosity's anime blog, Animanga and Rubberslug and #1 and #3 have had the spinning icon all day. Sometimes I haven't remembered they wouldn't load until the icon had been spinning for quite awhile. I'm used to going to them several times a day. Such strange coincidence for two of them to be down at the same time.

I used to try to never mention anime title names, "sketch", "genga" or "cel" in my Rubberslug descriptions if I cold help it so that my entries would be less likely to show up in search engines. I think it would be even harder to find my entries compared to most people...if my gallery was open that is.

but I don't think people would include name of show in every description on purpose, it'd be nice if there is a way to modify the search engine to include a title search as well, or something like an advanced search.

lol I have ever since I found this out. It's a bit redundant but at least it works. :p Fixing up the search function would be great, though, of course!

Yes, it's still down. I think Jason will inform us here when the problem has been resolved. Let's just hope everything will be okay soon!
