In My Dreams - Update: The Week in Review!!

Congratulations on the latest updates JD, that is a fair amount of paper you have managed to scan in there and then provide your usual detailed descriptions for each of the new images. This rather large update & the preparation associated with it along with managing the recent Cel awards is quite the achievement!
I am looking forward to your next round of updates, I must admit that 'Loveless' is another anime series I have not had the opportunity to watch & therefore completely unaware of who was involved with its production; reading through each episode section I was able to not only get a good general feeling for episodes 1 & 2 but why a particular item or certain scene was important to you as well. The actual scans, are pretty good too. I have to comment because a few times in your descriptions you felt that your current scanner were not producing adequate results - I actually thought the scans looked quite good and were a standout feature of this update?
Did you win each item individually or were some Gengas/Dougas from different scenes grouped together?

your excellent efforts to describe, I have a really decent
mindset about Loveless now!

Beta was very quiet the last two days and I wake up this morning and I have 3 notifications in my inbox! ^_^ So to respond!

Thanks Quacker! Blah... yes it was a lot of work I still have so much more Loveless to do... There is so very much to do and not enough time in the day! However, I do love this hobby and I think to only way to do it is just kind of take bull by the horns when I have the time.

When I got this last YJ shipment, I spent 4 days sorting out which sketches went with each other because they were all willy nilly thrown together. A good chunk of the pieces came in a stack of paper, which according to the YJ auction came with 8 cuts. When I broke it open it was so much more than that I was way overwhelmed, so four days to sort the mess, bag and scan. I actually like to scan, remove tape, and bag in one sitting, then I do gallery updates as I have time. I've also picked up separate sets of the more finished gengas on white paper from a private collector, I just hadn't gotten around to updating them. So when I finally had a good idea of what was going on with the YJ stack I was able to get a better idea of how everything kind of fit together with what I had, very very interesting and enjoyable work but still work nonetheless. ^_^ So long story short one giant lot from YJ, and then about I want to say 6 individual cuts from a private collector.

I hope that the details gets you to watch Loveless while it is still generally unfinished, because I think they only got through the first four volumes of Manga (which is up to 12 volumes and right now at a really irritating cliffhanger) Kouga! However I really feel that the anime captures the feel of the manga, and I hope that JC Staff picks it up again when it comes time to finish it. I kind of like that instead of putting in a ton of filler episodes they just put it on hold at a good stopping point, and then if Yun Kouga ever gets to the end of her promised 15 volumes, they can pick it up again.

Thanks for rooting for my scanner, however, the pieces are 100 times nicer in person much of the detail gets whited out when I scan them in. And the pieces on the green paper you can't even tell they are on the green paper, because it has leached out some of the color. Needless to say it drives me bonkers! However it does an amazing job with the full color plastic pieces that I can't bring myself to replace it! Plus it still works ^_^ I'd rather spend another $100 on cels than a new scanner when this one works just fine ^_^

Hi Teggacat! Thanks so much for taking the time to look! I also hope that you take a chance on Loveless it really is just so pretty! Plus Bishies! ^_^ I was hoping I was doing a good job about describing it, it is REALLY weird but a Jadeduo kind of weird so I like it ^_^ You are very welcome all the effort on Beta in my gallery is to help bring this hobby back into the light.

I was reading in article on facebook about the new Sailor Moon Anime and how the animation was so bad the first time around that they made some fixes for the blu ray release. What really gets in my craw are the ignorant comments on the post, that the animation was ALL done on computers and not sketched out anymore by hand! While computers make it very easy to do checking and even bring down the cost of doing something like that fixing the animation. No one seems to realize everything is still initially drawn, and I have made it my mission to stop that kind of thinking! I haven't seen anything from the new SM hit the market, but my sister tells me she saw a douga set from the fight between Venus and Kunzite hit YJ before Crystal came out, but because neither of us collect them she did not think to pick it up. So I am holding out that pieces will start showing up soonish.

Thanks to you both for commenting it is always nice to know updates just aren't tossed out into the ether to be ignored!

I've never seen Loveless (or even heard of it before), but wow, the art in these sketches is flawlessly beautiful. Congratulations Jadeduo!

It sounds like you put a lot of thought into not only the purchases themselves, but also the scanning procedure. If these scans are a less-than-perfect representation of these sketches, then they must be truly amazing in person.

Thanks Kino! I'm glad I was able to introduce you to Loveless through the art from these sketches, if you are interested there a few other galleries that have a good selection of art from Loveless as well. I tried to link up sequence mates as I found them, but the RS search doesn't even turn up my pieces when you search for Loveless so I am not sure the search is very up to date!

Yes I do a lot of deliberation before I get into a new series, and then when it's decided I have to figure out which characters I am collecting, and what pieces are the most important to me to acquire. I have been deliberating on Loveless for a while, and I LOVE Yun Kouga's designs they are just gorgeous, it doesn't hurt that the story is so complex as well.

They are gorgeous in person, and if you are coming to Otakon 2015 I will be there and could be persuaded to bring a few pieces with me to share! ^_^

Hi All! I hope you enjoyed the CCS 2014 Desk Clear Update!

I was face planting in my computer last night when I was doing the last two of the 2014 Sailor Moon Update Desk Clear! Tonight I will be doing the DBZ clear hopefully, that is the plan anyway! ^_^ We shall see how that goes! I don't know how it happened but I somehow ended up at the end of 2015 with all Sailor Stars pieces, that gallery has gotten much better in the last year considering how bare it was before!

Nice series of updates Jade.
Hands down without a doubt my favourites from this batch would be those cels depicting the "CCS" 'Cards'; I have not watched that far into the anime as yet but something about their design really makes them standout. The new Gengas are also quite nice too!

Thanks for looking at them Quacker! I was getting worried that no one was interested ^_^

I'd always wanted to collect the cards but they tend to be pricey due to the quality of the character design, and I didn't want to collect anything less than a really nice example of each of the cards so they have been added sporadically over time. I think the quality has to do that the were designed all by Mokona Apapa one of the members of CLAMP so they are are VERY high quality. I have a set of actual clow cards and have been scanning them with each piece to match up the original Manga character design, although I think I still have to scan the Song card cause I keep forgetting ^_^;;

I love the Saturn Genga, at the time I bought them I had not yet started purchasing any straight up sketches (except for those Saiyuki Layouts) and I hadn't gotten the Loveless yet, so before that I had never spent so much on a single set of sketches. I am super pleased with them though, they are very detailed and delicate.

I will roll onto the last of the updates eventually but most likely not till February, I have not had the time, and my dog has been feeling neglected cause I have been working on the sketch contest. Last night Survey Monkey decided it was going to stop working at around 9:30 so I decided to get in some puppy snuggles, my dog basically sprawled across my chest and put his head over my heart and lay there for a solid half hour before he got hot and was like you need to like keep your temp down too hot! I'm going to lay at your feet now. ^_^

In the meantime my focus is the sketch contest in between the rebagging/organization project when I have the time.

Your CCS update is phenomenal!

The Snow card is beautiful. I would also love to collect the cards but they can be so varied in price? I don't ever seem to know with CCS recently what is a good price to pay....

Anyway I hope your collection grows this year

Thanks Cherryblossom! CCS was something I discovered when it was first released to english in those horrible Tokyopop Manga where they reversed the art and used super small volumes. From there the rest is history ^_^

CCS prices are all over the place last year the most I paid for a CCS cel was $380 US, and then lowest was I want to say $6.75 US... I would have to go look it up... I'm sure you can guess the most expensive I am sure the cheapest would suprise you. I have never paid cheaply for the cards but I won't drop Yue/Toya Scene money on them. I would say my max at any given moment I would pay for a card would be between 80-100 depending on the quality. I know they can go much higher depending on the market at the time as well, and everyone's tastes differ to as to what they like when they go looking for cels of the cards.

LOL no worries, my YJ account is currently loaded, I should have a large package coming soonish although I do admit that I wait for the days to run out on the oldest item before I ship... It is more stressful when updating, but it saves on shipping! @_@

They are, as always, a treat to view. Your CCS gallery is growing to be an impressive and comprehensive summation of the series.

My favorite is the Sakura in blue. Off color cels are always unique and interesting. What a great shot. I have to say, yours and Sensei's CCS galleries are what ignited my interest in the series (somehow I missed it as a kid), and last month, I finally decided to watch it. It's a great show, and now I'm sorry that I waited so long to see it. I can see why there are so many collectors. A cel purchase might be in my future, but I'm afraid of becoming addicted.

Thanks KinoLRB! I appreciate that, in comparison with the rest of my collection it feels like it will eat the world at times!

I love her too, I knew exactly where she was from and I adore ALL off color cels I'm sure you can see in my gallery I have quite a few. It's so interesting how they make the things happen on the screen with different colored paints and lighting... just *sighs*

It's awe inspiring being put in the same sentence as Sensei and CCS I have been an admirer of his CCS collection since I started collecting CCS. And just... wow... thanks!

It's probably a good thing you missed the dub when you were a kid they butchered CCS much like they butchered Sailor Moon. My trio of favorite episodes, 65, 66, and 67, were smushed into one episode to kind of shove Yuki and Toya back in the closet as it were. Super disappointing! The Japanese version is so lovely and nuanced, I am so happy you are watching it!

Okay so in the first three weeks of January this year, there was huge clutch of CCS art from my favorite episodes and some from the other key Yukito and Toya scenes came up. We aren't talking 3 or 4 pieces. We are talking, like 10-12 new pieces a week. Each week the auctions would end between 6am and 7 am on a Sunday morning. I will henceforward refer to these weeks as the weeks of DOOM.........................

So let's say I wake up to win these auctions each week, and let's say I get into a bidding war each week with the same person... Although technically it could be different people because I did some research and found up I was up against another deputy service... So each week I am only getting about 50% of what I am going after, 1 - this is truly upsetting because I haven't had much competition for CCS art as of late, I can pretty much basically bid the minimum and still win. 2 - it makes me hopeful for the market picking up again, 3 - if it's the same person between the two of us we are just driving up the market unnecessarily... 4 - because this is YJ none of the auctions were ending on time, I was juggling between a couple of deputies because one deputy wasn't clearing out fast enough when I lost an auction. SOOOO irritating.

Okay I am digressing this post is to show the art that came out of the three weeks of DOOM..........................
