Re: In My Dreams-1st Post Accident Update! CCS, SM, Origina

LOL Sensei, that is hilarious! ^_^ I don't know how I feel about that as a predecessor to the Brony community lol, they kind of amuse and scare me at the same time ^_^ I remember the fansub days one of the things I miss about fansubs are the cultural side notes when a very specific Japanese cultural reference or joke was made, or even the puns a paragraph flash would happen on the screen explaining, a lot of the time I would have to pause the tape just to read the thing! I always found it helpful especially when Minako would mix up the old timey sayings and everyone would correct her in Sailor Moon.

Nothing wrong with raunchy, I miss my fanfic days... *sighs* Although I tended more towards the schmoop than the cracky stuff, although I could be convinced to jump in if it was an author I liked. Sadly the lovely paper and plastic take up a lot of my free time now. As well as the cosplay, I was rewatching Rurouni Kenshin this weekend while scanning and then cutting patterns. One for a Steampunk Sailor Uranus costume, and another for Jesse's Jacket from Team Rocket, that one still isn't cut yet, cause I had to cut the pieces from two patterns. They paper is sitting on a table to be pieced together to make the correct lines for her Jacket. Cutting patterns is more exhausting than it used to be I got up this morning all sore, lame...

LOL thanks for looking at him he is lovely, I wish sketches from CCS didn't come up so sporadically. Then I could find out more about that cut, like why didn't they animate his hair? The did full pans when they animated Sakura falling into Eriol's arms at the end of Episode 66... *sighs* the mysteries! I'm putting together the write-ups for some new Loveless cuts, and an almost complete setup from DBZ, although I am missing the gengas and corrections it has the timing sheet all the matching dougas, layers and original background a couple more should go up tonight.

I'm a little late to the thread, but great update! The information about the dorm was interesting. I have been wondering how anyone can survive starting out in the business these days. So much of the animation work is farmed to mainland Asia at ridiculously low rates that I can't imagine you could make much of a living until you get make some kind of name for yourself as a key animator or director. Back in ~97 I visited one of the animation schools with two of my friends. They used to do things like bake sales and selling "fan cels" to visitors even back then to make ends meet. It was a pretty fun tour at the time, but I'm sure it didn't take long for things to turn bleak for those just getting in the field.

@ReitheJelly - Thanks so much! I am so super amused by that cel, I also just love the dazed look in Tomoyo's face! @_@

@frozentime - Thanks so much for taking a peak, that is super cool that you went to Japan and got to visit an animation school and see it all up close and personal! ^_^ I hope that my plugging at least allowed them to raise a little more money, sadly it looks like they are not going to reach their goal. I am trying to figure out if I can donate a little more myself before the campaign finishes! And unfortunately the campaign will be over before Otakon so I will be unable to plug it there, although I think I will at least mention this! Although on the plus side, because they went with Indiegogo all funds raised they do get to keep for the project! So I hope whatever has been donated will be helpful!

Thanks @MajinTangerine! I have gotten three feedback from Peeps so far, about that cel, two from RS and one here. LOL if I knew it was going to be so popular I would have posted it MUCH earlier, it's been sitting in the update your gallery moron pile for a while now. I think I bought it sometime last year!

Everyone seems to love it, but I think some of it might have to do with the description! The whole scene amused me greatly!

Wow, you're really on a roll, Jadeduo! I'm usually not a fan of paper over plastic, but the Saiyuki sketches are richly detailed and absolutely gorgeous. I'm also a fan of the yellow-hued DBZ cel you posted today. Can't wait to see your BWA mandarake win. Keep 'em coming! :)

@Kino Thanks! I went on a scanning spree last weekend, and there are over 100 image files that need to make it RS. So I have been trying to do a little each day. This is a combination of the stuff I bought before the accident and anything that was bought in the last few months. Everything has just been piling up, it also doesn't help that it takes me longer to do basically ANYTHING since the accident. And I still have a giant stack of Loveless Sketches... And I bought more at Otakon.... *sighs* #firstworldproblems

I have always been more of a fan of paper over plastic, but those Sanzo sketches are some of my favorite new pieces (not just paper), they are really gorgeously detailed. I was talking to a friend about them, and when I posted them, she was like so that is what JD was talking about when she goes on her Studio Pierrot/Saiyuki rants! ^_^;;

Today I am going out after work, but if I don't get too toasted, I am planning on posting some more tonight. It's not the scanning and editing that is slow for me it is the blurbs that I write. And Sketch sets are super hard to get done because I want to dissect them as much as possible to find out as much as possible about them!

Thanks for feeding the feedback monster!

So when are we posting pictures of our "to scan" pile/heap?! Maybe we should just pull an all nighter after YaoiCon and get to scanning? :vict

I totally feel your pain about writing new blurbs for cels. If I sat down in front of a desktop to do it, things would go faster. But on an iPad....pfft! It takes me forever to write something just because the iPad has a hard time dealing with the RS format.

I like your new SM episode 199 because I'm incredibly biased towards the final few episodes of the series. It's a nice, emotional cel.

Thanks @Cutiebunny! *snuggles* God, I haven't even been home since my last scanning spree I have been staying with family while still on crutches. Maybe next weekend this weekend I am super busy, I will stack everything and take a picture and post then we can be encouraged... (beat) To get off our butts and get stuff up! The stack at this point is insanely high cels are in shorter stacks, but I scan cels first and put them away ASAP because of the preservation issues so there are probably 5 cels that are in the to be scanned pile. I really have to work myself up to scan the paper it is VERY time consuming! Editing the matching layers and making the pencil lines bolder so you can see the detail for each piece.

I've done work on an iPad for my gallery and for the beta contests, it is not the fastest process in the world it is much faster to do it on the laptop! :vict

Thanks for the kudos on the episode 199 cel. That would be the most recent Sailor Moon piece in my collection, I am quite proud of her, her expression is very lovely! ^_^ I love that she doesn't really move on the screen she sort of just glides across the screen in between Galaxia and the Three Lights. Then it cuts to an extreme eye close up, I would definitely rather have this one though! ^_^

Keep feeding the update monster!

Thanks,
JD

Nice update! I thought the SM one was particularly fun. :) Also nice that it has minimal line fading. That seems to be a real problem with many of the cels from this series.

Great updates!! They're all lovely, but of course I particularly love the SM additions. :D I especially like Makoto and Taiki (such a great episode, and I'm with you on that background--it's really perfect for the scene) and ep 199 SM/Galaxia. I also am partial to the final episodes from Stars, and this is an excellent one that captures Moon's sadness and determination.

I love all background/commentary that you add to your gallery. I know the headache it poses when it's time to update, but it's so nice to see your thoughts on each cel, and what drew you to it. So add me to the chorus of voices that want to see you get through your ginormous stack of future updates!

@frozentime - Thanks! Sailor Moon has always been my first love, so it was very nice to get some super nice pieces this year.

@lunacels - Squee! Thanks for the comments on my new SM additions! ^_^ The background was so serendipitous a match it looks so much better than the dirt background they used in production! ^_^ Thanks for feeding the feedback monster! I am slogging through, my goal is to post 1-3 cels/sketches a day more if possible to get through then I have spend another weekend scanning maybe two... :bwall

Feel free to keep feeding the feedback monster, she's hungry!! *nom nom nom* :evil2 :evil2 :evil2 :evil2

Re: In My Dreams - Update: The Week in Review

Post by Jadeduo »

So as to my goal of catch up and posting 1-3 pieces a day I have done a pretty good job, I of course missed a few days this week but I am working on it! Lots of work and I still get tired faster than I used to :(

So review what went up this week if you missed anything... please have a gander! ^_^

Sailor Moon:

http://jadeduo.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=387519 Makoto SuperS Movie (A lot of peeps saw this when it hit RS, but I never posted to Beta ^_^;;)

Cardcaptor Sakura:

Dragonball and DBZ:

http://jadeduo.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=387635 Goku and Pan Chan ^_^
http://jadeduo.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=386771 Goku and etc. (I realize I posted this many weeks back but never to Beta so JIC you missed it!)
http://jadeduo.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=387739 Fusion Movie Goku

Gundam Wing: Seriously? @_@

http://jadeduo.rubberslug.com/gallery/i ... mID=387634 Duo - Episode 19

I've just exhausted myself looking at how much work I got done since the last update to BETA @_@ I hope everyone enjoys the updates I've been doing, they are going to start slowing down so I can participate in the Open House, I will also be away next weekend and will most likely not have too much time for cels or sketches :l

I did finally get the tracking number for my Hanken but it has still not arrived yet, I am thinking the BWA murdered more than just me, someone send Mandarake some life support! And since I said I would show... here is the current stack to scan! This stack also does not include those I have been working on that were already scanned two weeks ago. Most of it is sketches as I try not to leave the lovely painted plastic too long due to preservation issues ^_^

Image

I am going to go take a nap now, just thinking about all that work is making me exhausted I also might be over caffeinated... Was that three or four cups of coffee today?? :OMG

Have FUN!
