Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Small gallery update. Added 3 sketches from Kino's Journey. Though I promised myself I would be more conservative with the buying, I couldn't resist these awesome sketches. Luckily they were pretty inexpensive.

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
I'm very happy to add a few kidney-wishlight items to my gallery. I've been on the hunt for quality Kino sketches for some time now, and while I've been able to acquire some very beautiful layouts of Kino as a youth and various rough sketches and minor characters, my biggest goal was to find sketches of Kino as we know her from the show. My wish came true when I purchased a rilezu from the series and with it came oodles of production materials, including original background. I couldn't be more delighted to add them to my collection, and I didn't even have to give up a kidney!
For anyone who's interested, here they are:

while I'm not familiar with your main series here, what a fabulous set up! Great addition!!KinoLRB wrote:I'm very happy to add a few kidney-wishlight items to my gallery. Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Thanks as always, Teggacat Kino's Journey is a modest, quieter series somewhat in the vein of Haibane Renmei and Serial Experiments Lain. Sadly, it didn't get a lot of attention when it was first released over here in the states back in the early 2000's, but has since gained a small, but strong following. I highly recommend it.
Congrats BTW on your recent Noir acquisitions. I had admired both when I saw them for sale, as they are fantastic pieces from a pivotal sequence in the show. Glad to see they found a good home.

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
I went a little nuts and ordered a second rilezu containing even more production goods. This rilezu really puts the capper on my wishlist, because I really wanted some drawings with Kino astride Hermes, and here they are--layout, genga, douga and original background, for anyone who's interested. Thanks for looking!

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Congratulations! Your new Kino/Hermes is really pretty and the extras are fascinating.
Kino's Journey is highlighted in a book I've used for research, Dani Cavallaro's The Fairy Tale and Anime. It isn't easy to read, but she makes interesting choices about which anime series really support serious academic analysis, and this is one of them. (Wolf's Rain is another she discusses at length.)

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Thank you Sensei, as always. I was excited to finally receive this set.
It's comforting to know that Kino's Journey is being studied on scholarly level, as it is certainly worthy of critical analysis. In college I fantasized about taking a class on it. Like school could ever be that cool.

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Added a new Simpsons and Aaaahh! Real Monsters cel. It's always refreshing to add some non-anime items to the gallery.

Re: Celluloid Central Gallery Update
Big update! Well, only two cels, but I'm still super excited. About a week ago, I added a cel from Rocko's Modern Life, found here:
http://celluloidcentral.rubberslug.com/ ... mID=375033
But the biggie is a new Evangelion bought for a great price on YJ. I couldn't resist, and the condition is fabulous. It's not the most groundbreaking EVA cel in terms of scale or action, but the image takes up practically the whole celluloid and line-fade is minimal. So happy to have this one!
