A very intense EVA cel nonetheless. I'm betting these two guys are looking at (and doing video) of some girls. Congratulations on your additions!

Thank you Sensei! :) It's always exciting to add a new Evangelion, which I've decided will become the focal point of my collection. They are just so darned expensive!

Hi, everyone. Some new additions tonight. These will probably be my last purchases for at least a few months.

After a year of waffling, I finally decided to splurge on this cel of Chloe, from Noir. I would love to collect extensively from this series, but the market has dried up apparently. Not to mention the prices. :bawl

Three layouts from Kino’s Journey:

Talk about an off-the-cuff decision—this layout from Azumanga Daioh. I’ve been searching for more CG shows to collect from--a challenge for me, since most of my favorite animes are from the cel-era. To be completely honest, I haven’t watched AZD since high-school, but I enjoyed the show back then and have plans to revisit. I love the humor in this drawing. It perfectly encapsulates the high-school experience lol.

I can finally see my gallery starting to take shape, with focus on anime series from the mid-90's through the early-2000's, and American cartoons from the 90's.

Thanks for looking! :D

:bny Congratulations on the Noir cel! :yay That's a series that has been very competitive ever since I began, and so it's worth splurging on a moody image that's a key cel and in good condition. Your Kino's Journey layouts continue your tour of this interesting series: I especially like the one of the "ghostly onlookers." (Reminds me of some Metro cars I've ridden back to the New Carrollton carpark.) You've done a find job of finding a comfortable focus for your collecting and for your gallery. Take a well deserved break and then back to the hunt in the fall!

Thank you Sensei! :) Judging by some of the absolutely beautiful (and not to mention huge) Noir galleries on RS, I can see where the competition was once fierce. I'm glad to have arrived in the aftermath. Picking through the rubble isn't easy, but there are still some gorgeous pieces to be had. "The Ghostly Onlookers" was the best freebie ever. It's quite spooky and a nice contrast to the comedic "Man Wearing Lion's Tail"--also a freebie.

Thank you as always Teggacat! :) I was perusing your Noir gallery all wide-eyed a few days ago. I can totally sympathize with you on the high prices and lack of availability/variety when it comes to Noir. So frustrating. But I love your Kirika pieces, and the Chloe sketch is also quite intense. Looking forward to seeing your new Chloe cel from YJ.

Awesome updates KLRB. Of course the star of this newest round of updates is indeed the sensational Chloe cel from 'Noir'.
(Admission: 'Noir' is another of those classic series' I unfortunately have not had the privilege of spare time to watch & enjoy as yet). Nonetheless, I do appreciate the beautifully moody artwork released from the anime series.

Your 'Kino's Journey' & 'Azumanga Daioh' acquisitions cannot be overlooked as well as they too are also stunning additions to your rapidly growing collection, all in time for the upcoming OPEN House 2014.
I am looking forward to your next set of updates Kino as well as conducting a "phantom review" (queue "Twilight Zone" theme music) on your gallery during ze Open Haus!
My Cel Gallery can be found here:

http://celsphoenix.rubberslug.com/gallery/home.asp

A growing collection of Escaflowne, Evangelion, FMP, Fate/Stay Night plus other cels that are among my Favourites. No cheap & nasty stuff here.
Come, check out the cutesy female & Mecha madness!!

Thank you Quacker! :) Noir is a refreshingly reserved and thoughtful series. Highly recommended if you get a chance. See you at the Open House! :D

On Wednesday I made what will probably be my last update until the end of the year. I added a total of four new sketches to my Kino gallery. I've decided that Kino will be the primary focus of my collection for the next few months or so. My plan is too collect as many sketches from the series as possible, put them in order, and explain the thematic significance of each scene. It won't be perfect, but I hope the end result to be a scholarly analysis of the series as told through the artwork.

That said. These new additions are humble, but it's the little odds and ends that really tell the story. Descriptions pending.

I was also very lucky to add this iconic image from the Simpsons about a month ago.

Good luck in your own "journey." This series likely needs to be better known in this part of the world. The sketch that I liked most, actually, was the one that you included as the thumbnail to "Ask me in the morning," which shows Kino rubbing his eyes as she awakens, the sentient cycle Hermes waiting by her bed. Congratulations on this latest clutch of sketches.

Thank you as always Sensei. :) The project will be quite an undertaking, but I'm up to challenge. It may take a while, however, considering the rarity of production art from the series. With this new set of sketches, I have officially exhausted all of the Kino art currently available on dealer sites. There are the still the Rilezu, which are beautiful and come with great stuff, but they're also quite expensive. The sets are considerably cheaper, and contain all the little odds and ends that I love so much. Hopefully more will come up for sale in the future.

Thanks for noting my little thumbnail sketch. Perhaps for my next update I will give it its own space in the gallery. :)

Whew! Tonight is catch up night on Beta. Must...catch...breath...

While I have a massive update coming after Christmas, over the weekend I couldn't resist scanning a little gem I picked up recently:

http://celluloidcentral.rubberslug.com/ ... mID=381277

This is my first comic art purchase and I couldn't be happier. Added to my delight, it's accumulated 130 views on RS in only two days! Thanks everyone for looking. :)

Wow! 8O What an intense sketch of Maleficent! That's a real highlight of your collection now. And congrats on extending your Kino's Journey gallery in nice ways. Knowing I wouldn't get much in the way of anime-related gifts (aside from my Secret Santa prize), I bought myself the DVDs for this series for Christmas. Otherwise, a nose hair trimmer (doesn't work), a new suit jacket (doesn't fit), a CD of the greatest hits of the Statler Brothers ("But I thought you liked bluegrass!"), etc.
