I figured I'd join the the cool kids and start a thread with my new cel acquisitions that I can update whenever I get new cels.

There have been a couple of Ranma 1/2 cels on YahooJapan lately that have really helped me polish up my Nabiki collection, so I wanted to show those off.

Couple new cels that I thought I'd show off, but mostly I have a question about cleaning one that I hope someone can answer. May make a separate thread for it later if needed. But first, the new cels:

Unico:

Another successful trip to Nakano Broadway in Tokyo got me this Unico cel of the Baron for an absolute steal:

I've been eyeing this cel on YJ for months, so when the seller finally dropped the price I decided to grab it even though it's missing douga and background. Still, it's rare to find all three together, and especially Unico in his fairy form. I added a paper cut out to simulate the post Katy is tied to, and paired it with an unmatching background. However you can see that there is some accumulated dirt on the cel that shows up really well against the dark background. The layers are not stuck together, though the cel is stapled together. Is there a safe way to try and clean this cel? I had someone recommend a light soap/water mix, but I'm worried about that...

I also picked up this Weiß kreuz cel of Schuldig the other day, just because it was such a nice looking cel. I'm not looking to start collecting WK cels again, but sometimes the finger just slips... ha.

Excited to share this new Ranma 1/2 cel I got of Nabiki, Kasumi, Akane, girl Ranma and Shampoo from the Christmas OVA episode where they're singing one of their DoCo songs.

Never thought I'd have a cel of all five of them together like this, so I'm very happy. Curious too to know if anyone can say what the "E" on the B4(E) layer means... and why Shampoo wouldn't be on the douga even though she's on the cel and not moving differently.

Congratulations on your new items. It is always interesting to me to see cels of Ranma-chan so fully in touch with his/her female side. At the start, his flipping genders is seen as such a curse, and yet later in the story line the flexibility in sexual orientation becomes useful, both in plot and in psychology.

The two issues you bring up are interesting. I'd guess that Shampoo at some point leans a different way from the other four, so there was a separate set of dougas for this character, and the two were combined when the trace lines were copied onto the cels. (The "synthetic parent" issue you've asked about before -- in this case the four characters to the left would be on the "base" and the Shampoo would be an "add-on" image. Especially if it's a long cut and the two rock back and forth several times.

The B5 END designation might just be a reflection of the fact that there were five mouth layers used for this cut. So B5 would be the "end" even if in fact the cut ends with a different mouth layer. Again, for long, repetitious cuts like this, the "start" and "end" cels of a layer like this aren't really meaningful.

Hope this clears up some things. There are lots of issues like these that go with one or just a few situations that it's hard to make a hard judgment call. Any one else?

Some new pretty shinies have come to me recently.

This awesome Vegeta from near the end of the series:

Vegeta cels always go for so much, especially with the recent resurge of interest in DBZ cels so I never thought I'd get a nice one, but I got lucky here. I still want more, of course, but this has definitely calmed the Vegeta cel beast in my heart.

Of course I also got another fantastic new Nabiki cel:

This one is of her and Kuno from the second movie and it has been on my wishlist for ages. I paid a bit more than I wanted for it, but it's a gorgeous cel with four layers and all the douga, plus the original matching BG. Now to just get one of her in her movie 2 dress that's as nice...

It's nothing terribly amazing, but I love the soft lighting.

In the Unico category I got a new Beezle cel a while ago of him on his pillar, playing with a rain cloud:

I had to source a suitable background and add a paper cut out for the pillar, but I'm quite happy with how it all came together. I really hope to someday be able to get a couple complete Unico cels, but the only ones I've found have been well beyond my budget.

One of Gohan rescuing Trunks from the androids, and the other of SSJ Trunks taking a beating from the androids. Happy with both of them, though neither is especially stunning. Outside of a few pieces, I think that the History of Trunks special is becoming my main DBZ collecting interest.

I also recently redid my gallery banner, replacing some of the cels in the frames with newer ones. Let me know what you think!

Love the Nabiki cel! That is an uncommon perspective, and makes the image stand out. Congratulation on this one and the rest of the set! Nice holiday update.

Watched the Unico Beezle cel on Mandarake but did not bid on it: I'm glad I didn't as you've done an excellent job of displaying it. Congratulations! Just in time for Christmas.
