Earl's New Site

Post by earl »

I've been working on my own site over the last day or two. Other than a few things on RS, I've never really uploaded scans of my collection until now. I still have quite a few things to put on the site, but I thought I'd go ahead and share it:

http://www.cartoonedin.com/gallery/

The "Mummies Alive!" section has the most items at the moment by far. As you can probably tell, there's not much anime in my collection. I mainly focus on cartoons from the US. Also, while I love cels, most of what I collect is concept art, sketches, character models, backgrounds, etc. (pretty much everything except cels... although I still have a number of those as well). I'll be adding more daily (hopefully) until I get everything on there. Everything in my collection is hand drawn. I don't keep/purchase copied backgrounds, models, etc. Let me know what you think and thanks for taking a look!

The set-up of the gallery is very attractive and easy to navigate. That's a big plus right from the start, and will serve you well as your collection grows. The Gargoyles cel is a very strong start to this gallery, and although I don't remember Cadillacs and Dinosaurs (my daughter and I were watching early Saban-adapted anime on Nick Toons), I like the concept art that you've gotten for that. Thanks for going for all the interesting supporting art that helped make cel-based series possible. Looking forward to your progress.

Thanks sensei! :) I've added several things since posting this a few days ago and I actually have more Cadillacs and Dinosaurs concept art on the way.

Oooh! Oooh! Gummy Bears concept/storyboard art! That takes me back to our Liz's early TV watching days, when this, Wuzzles, and The Ewoks were staples of her weekend entertainment. Very nice stuff: I also enjoyed the new Sonic the Hedgehog items.

Just added a bunch more to Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Also added a 'Don Bluth' section, A Batman TAS section, and a 'For Sale' page. :)

Quite a few things have been added since my last update. There are 16 color concepts from TMNT, including these:

and a number of items from various Don Bluth films, including this wonderful production background from The Secret of NIMH (one of the few with a character--Nicodemus in this case--painted in it):

as well as these color concepts from All Dogs Go to Heaven and The Pebble and the Penguin:

Great site! Sensei is right; it is laid out very nicely and is easy to navigate. I love some of the concept pieces you've managed to find!

Just updated. There's now a section dedicated to Wild C.A.T.s (a short-lived 90s cartoon based on a comic of the same name):

I've also added a beautiful cel to the Gargoyles section of Demona and Goliath. (Thanks Nadia!) I've been wanting something of Demona for a long time and I think this is one of the best cels of her I've seen recently:

Late to the party, but wanted to say your site looks great! It's always nice to see another site off RS. :D

I was recently able to acquire quite a few (15) Sonic the Hedgehog (SatAM) model cels! This is the largest single addition to my site in a while. Sonic SatAM art can be difficult to find and this is the first time I've seen model cels from the series. I've cropped all of them to make them more difficult to replicate, but this is what all of them look like (without cropping):
