Celluloid Central - Hello from the Past + Kino Update

Post by KinoLRB »

Hi everyone! Long time no see. I'm still collecting, but have slowed down considerably. One day I sat down with everything in my collection and the experience was pretty overwhelming. I came to the conclusion that I'm satisfied with my collection, so my main focus over these last months has been storing it properly. I've also taken up Pokemon card collecting (and I thought cels were expensive 8O ) so that has also taken a lot of my time. That said, there's always room for the right cel/sketch, so I have been keeping my eyes peeled for certain items. I was super lucky in that a few months ago, a seller on Yahoo Japan unloaded dozens of Kino sketches. I bought all I could afford, and now I finally have artwork from episodes 1& 2 after years of hoping some would appear.

Anyways, here are some sketches. I don't expect to be adding much in the near future, but I will make an effort to be more of the presence here. Thanks for looking! :)

Welcome back, Kino. It's good to hear that your patience has finally borne fruit: the sketches you share really are primo ones of the main character in this interesting series. You honestly have an important collection for Kino's Journey, one that is a resource for people interested in seeing how it was put together by the studio.

Sorry to hear that you've been tempted away by Pokemon -- I know others have found BJD collecting a distraction in the same way. But I'm glad that you are still interested in the field and willing to check in once in a while. Please feel free to stir things up: I've been busy lately with a visit from my daughter (she lives in Hong Kong, so we have to make the most of these). And I'm sorting out a box from Rinkya (Baaaaaaaaaad Girl! 8O ) so I may not be as active as I'd like to be. But I'm always happy to see you stop by and find a trip to your gallery a refreshing relief from other jobs.

Thank you for the kind words and warm welcome, Sensei! :) I'm glad I bought what I could - because the seller appears to have stopped posting. It's good to be back; and I have to say, taking a step back from my collection has made me appreciate it more. In adding less I've been able to perceive what I have with greater clarity, and so my relationship with my collection has improved. I needed a little breather.

Haha the Pokemon cards are fun, nostalgic, and a great investment (if your careful) but they'll never replace my love for cel collecting. :)
