You're not going kymaera? I thought you were.

By the way...who the heck is that in your avatar? ?^_^?

EDIT:

Here's some friendly conversation about the AX lines:

Geez...

Glad I killed my feet standing around at a short event (Cora's retirement party) instead of waiting even longer at AX.

I wrote to them in February or so and said "look, I'm trying to decide whether to go or not this year. But I'm not wasting half a day to pick up a badge when I'm preregistered."

I then described the American Library Association conference -- 20,000 people on an average year, and the average wait to pick up materials is about five minutes. BECAUSE THEY MAIL THE BADGES OUT IN ADVANCE. Not everyone cares whether they have the big program books or not.

The response I got was that they were going to have many more people and more computers working on registration, and that it should be much faster.

Yeah, right. :P

I *love* AX but I'm too old and cranky to do that half-day thing again.

EDIT: Ok! Just got the official count for last weekend's conference. Over 27000 people were there. And the wait for registration was between five and fifteen minutes.

Surely AX can do as well.??

:rollin
You are SO sweet, Baakay, to write that solely for my benefit so I will remember why I, too, will be better off not going to AX this year! I am SO not patient with lines... living in a small town, we never wait in line for anything, so those big city truly huge lines make me just about lose it.

.... but I really DO wanna go to AX!!

Interesting. You really do? What is stopping you?

Well, Cloud, let's see... there's 2 little boys and a couple dogs who wouldn't eat if I weren't here... then there's the money for flights all the way across the country... then there are those horrible lines that everyone is talking about...

No. Lots of personal reasons that just piled up over the last lil bit including
several health scares of friends/relatives, personal illness and high workload
have left me with the desire to do lil other than sleep this weekend. Not to
mention the facts that I don't find the guest list that impressive this year (the
major draws for me I've seen before), the lines last year made me not want
to go back near as much and airline fares wer about 150% of the normal
rates when I checked.

The avatar is Habanero-tan. Habanero's are very hot peppers.

Oh, great. As if I wasn't feeling bad enough today, I find myself agreeing
with the ancient ones that I'm too old and cranky to go to A-X this year.
*sniffs sadly*

I never would've realized that.

I attend SFN and there were over 31,000 in attendance last year. Same story with the wait---hardly any. They have their act together so why can't AX?
