Looked at the places I normally order from and they're all sold out. Products
tend to have a short life time in Japan, so if you don't get them quick, they're
tough to find. Also, they aren't gashapons, they are trading figures which
are randomly packaged. So, even if you did find them, they may be in
boxes so you wouldn't know which figures you got until you received them
and opened them. If you want just a set, your best bet is from an auction.

Wow, i didnt know that about trading figures. Knowing my luck i would get all the same figure. lol :crackup Im surprised that the products have a short life, you would think the products everyone wants they would make more of. Eh, i can never figure out marketing. /hmm How long of a life do the figures normal have? So gashapons arent randomly packaged? :D Shampoo was right, you do know a lot. Thankx for the info.

The lifespan depends on a lot of factors such as the popularity of the show
and the print run. Some things will sell out within days, others will last
months.

Gashapons are usually sold to retailers in bulk lots. They generally come
individually packaged in clear plastic bags. These are then inserted into the
capsules which is how some stores sell them. Other stores assemble sets
out of the lots and sell them that way (with the extras being sold as
individual figures). So, if you buy them out of the machine, they are random,
but you can usually find sets at the Japanese stores around, so it is much
easier to get a set.

The trading figures are usually sold in boxes to retailers (again around a
dozen figures). In order to see what figures are in them, they'd have to
open the packaging (as opposed to the gashapons) which would make them
not be considered new by some collectors, so they don't do that very often.
Also, the trading figures are usually a higher price point than gashapons
(typical gashapon is 100 - 300 yen vs 500-700 yen for a trading figure),
so they're less likely to open packages in order to avoid getting stuck
with a bunch of the common characters.

Canadian Cons

Post by Blackmegabyte »

This topic saved me having to do a new post.

There's two Canadian Cons coming up:
Con No Baka http://www.connobaka.com/ ----Nov 25-27
AC Cubed http://www.ac-cubed.ca/ ------ Nov 19-20

Anyone been to them or can guess what their dealer rooms are going to be like? Think they might sell some Esca, GW or VHD cels?
Or is anyone planning on going to them anyway? Chances we could meet up?

EDIT: Uhoh, actually my Q is kinda redundant seeing as this is the first con being held by o baka..... thanks anyway.
