Is there a Slugfest this year?

Venturing out into the sunlight? Planning on meeting up with other cel addicts? Post convention or gathering info here.

There will be one.

It will still be a few days till date time and location are finalized then I'll post a thread here and on RS.

Though not an official event, anyone within driving distance of AnimeNEXT in New Brunswick, NJ on Saturday and Sunday, June 19-20, is welcome to show up for the two cel-collecting events offered there:

Getting a Piece of the Action: Collecting Japanese Animation Art - Saturday, June 19: 10:00-11:00am

How to Train Your Douga: The Care and Feeding of Japanese Animation Art - Sunday, June 20: 11:00am-12:00pm

If there is interest, starfighter and I will look for a place where people could stretch out and look at Itoyas.

There really is no "official" events but over the years there seems to be a cel gathering at the larger con's (AX & Otakon) I organize the one at AX since I live in the area.

Best of luck with your panels.

Are the places you meet up at usually to the North or Northeast of the Los Angeles Convention Center?

I'm not familiar with the area so I cruised around the area on Google Maps. :)

Last year, if memory serves me, we got together at a restaurant in a hotel(Gordon Biersch?). I don't recall if the direction that was in, but it was about 8 blocks or so away from the hotel. To save on parking, some of us will carpool over there.
