Is anyone reading the Fullmetal Alchemist manga? I grabbed volume 1 but haven't had the chance to read it yet. I'm just curious if it goes more in depth than the anime or if there are changes. I almost didn't pick it up because I love the anime so much.

The anime and manga are pretty similar right up to about where the Elric brothers meet back up with Izumi. Then the anime splits away from the manga and takes a totally different path. The manga is still going in Japan, and I believe they're up to chapter 57 or so.

Thanks for the info, vampyreshoujo. I have read thru volume 4 and only noticed events were in different a order.

I like both so far. The different events timing is interesting, and glad that they're not spoiling the DVDs with the manga coming out too early (although I wouldn't get mad if they did ^_^).

I'm on vol 5 and I absolutely love it.

And like the dvds, the manga has little "extras" too.

I watched the whole anime series, but never saw the manga until last week in a Borders bookstore. I didn't realize they differed so much! I'm going to have to read all the manga now.

You're welcome, AO.
And I'm with birdie - I absolutely love the FMA manga. (For one thing, Izumi's a lot cooler.

You really do? You are not the only one. I've heard other people say they like manga as well as anime. I have a stimulating relationship with Sith-Krillin.

No it's not Mustard in the books, only in the Borders' ad writer's withered lil mind.
And in the same email, they made Trinity Blood's Tres into Tras....
