Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knew why x/1999 has been put on Hiatus for so long? Does anyone have an idea when they will finish it?

the problem is CLAMP started so many series at the same time that they can't find the time to finish X right now. No idea when they start volume 19, I have been waiting for years and nothing. This is getting annoying but I still think it's worth waiting if they make a better ending than the ones we had in the movie and the series...

X/1999 was published in Japan by Kadokawa Shoten under the Monthly
Asuka line. It's believed a dispute between CLAMP and the editors of
Asuka led to the manga series being put on a hiatus since March 2003.
The editors felt the plot of X became too violent and CLAMP was unwilling
to change the plot. Gohō Drug was the other title in Asuka that was put
on hiatus at the same time.

In an interview, CLAMP confirms Asuka's opinion of the plot being too violent,
but the authors explain the real reason for X's hiatus were the Great Hanshin
earthquake and the Sakakibara incident, both of which devastated Japan.
As X portrays earthquakes as a sign of the end of days and contains
depictions of extreme mutilation and decapitation, CLAMP decided it was not
the right time to release the ending they had planned. It has been rumoured
that X will start again in the Summer of 2006, though why Gohō Drug was
pulled has yet to be explained.
