Ai Yori Aoshi #17 series ends

Well we just finished reading Kou Fumizuki's Manga Ai Yori Aoshi volume #17 in which concludes the story.
For us we were quite pleased with the ending though there were a few interesting twists.
don't read the spoilers if you don't want to ruin the story in case you have only watched the anime and not followed the manga to finish it.
We were not that surprised that
| Kaoru and Aoi had sex before getting married. |
But during the "epiloque" section in which
| Tina comes back after being gone 4 years. |
There are 2 things which surprised us
| 1. that after 4 years Aoi & Kaoru had no children. I kind of expected to see Aoi chasing after a toddler with an infant in her arms, guess after others like Maison Ikkoku I kind of expected such. 2. that Kaoru & Aoi took his mothers family name of Honjou instead of Hanabishi as their married name was a surprise. |
All in all , we love the series even more and do wish they might consider an OVA to complete the anime now that the Manga has completed.
