Bittorrent... How I Hate Thee..
Okay, I give up. >_< I've tried downloading this clip from 2 different groups, and though I'm on a cable connection, I can't go higher than 1.0 KB per second. >_< (Though I'm sure its the people seeding it thats making it go so slow).
Sooo... does anyone have the Wish animated video? And if you do, could I please PLEASE download it from you, or have you e-mail it to me? @_@; I serious give up with Bittorrent on this.

Can anybody tell me (or pm me, maybe) and tell me how the heck to use bit torrent in the first place???
I thought you just downloaded the file to let you use torrents and then were off to the races, but I can't seem to get anything to play! It seems as if the files have no bytes in them, but the icons are there on the 'puter.
I don't mind buying my anime, but I'd like to download some stuff to see if I like it before I spend horrific amounts of money on something!

To use BT, you must first get a BT client. It seems by your post that you have one (I personaly use Bit Tornado).
Then, you must go on websites where they host links to "torrents". For example, if I want to download "episode A", I need to get the link for the torrent first on the site where it's fansubbed.
Then, I open that link with my client (or just clicking on it will start it with your default BT client), and start downloading. Once it's done, your file should be complete and you're all ready to go

The way BT works is it connects to other users on the torrent you want and it gets a small part of the file from each user. In the end, BT does the integration of the entire file. So if you play your file before it's finished, you will only have the small parts that were downloading from each user and they are not automatically at the beginning of the file.
If that is still unclear, just pm me and I can direct you further to what you're looking for

Thanks, Sakura-chan! OK, now I get it! I didn't understand what was happening when the download thing came up and it looked like it was just sitting there! LOL!
I'm even now attempting to download a series I've seen a few pictures from and looked interesting, called "Rose of Versailles". Although, I have to admit that all those hours (it's 32% done and it says it will take another 10+ hours to finish) even with a dsl connection seems a bit mad even to me! LOL!! Mind you, it does beat the heck out of looking for all 40 episodes on Kazaa!
There's a few series that people have cels from that I want to download and check out for myself. Although, I got really lucky this weekend and got Gungrave dvd's for $3! Ok, they're used, but for $3, who cares?!?! LOL!

Hey guys!
Thanks again, Sakura-chan for helping me out! I'm having waaaay too much fun discovering new stuff! LOL!!
Kira, do you know how to play an "ogm" file? I'm running the newest windows media player, but it can't play it. I tried downloading the codec for it, but that doesn't seem to work, either. I downloaded the thing and didn't notice until afterwards that it was an ogm file.
I also wanted to download "Wordsworth" but can't seem to find it anywhere. I've seen some cels from it and it looks really interesting. Any suggestions anybody?

Holidays, busy busy busy busy!!! Even my dog's getting annoyed that I'm always running out of the house!! LOL!
Anyway, Gabe, I did try that link you gave me, but every time I try to open the download, Kazaa Lite opens instead, and then it says I can't download it. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, since when it asks me if I want to use bit torrentt to open the file, I click yes, and it still doesn't work. I'm baffled.

Ok... BT is great but you will not get anywhere near the download speeds you get over IRC, and the setup can be quite complex depending on the kind fo internet setup you have at home, so try having a lurk around irc chanels and looking at bots and fservs (I have seen it in several places). However having a working BT is a good idea so here is a quick run down that I hope will get you on the road to being an expert leecherDevoVamp wrote:Anyway, Gabe, I did try that link you gave me, but every time I try to open the download, Kazaa Lite opens instead, and then it says I can't download it. 1. Get yourself either Azureus (good, fast reliable, with lots of options) or BitTornado (very simple but still good and fast). I personaly use Azureus and I prefer it to BitTornado.
2. You need to go into yout Kazaa Lite options and turn off the option where you assign torrent files to be handled by Kazaa (and get rid of kazaa overall its a dreadfull program, if you need to use P2P I suggest something like Shareaza).
3. If you have a wireless network and use a wireless router or have wired LAN and use a router for that you will need to set up port forwarding to the computer you will be using to download with BT.. for further directions go to www.portforward.com
4. You will need to install and set up Azureus or BitTornado (again the instruction are on portforward.com and/or on the respective sites of the programs).
5. Go find the torrent of the file you wish to download and right-click on it and save-as or download it if such an option is available on the page. Save the torrent file to somewhere you will remember. Then open your client and open the torrent and beign downloading.
That should be enought to be a good leecher, Auzreus has an added option where you can check if the port being used is forwarded (hence usable)... option -> NAT/Firewall Test. Do the test if it turns out ok then you are fine (I suggest you try this before doing any port forwarding as you *might* be ok) if not... well then you have a problem, lol. If you have further questions feel free to PM me or just post here.
