Looking for a particular background

I'm on the hunt for a heavy sunset or firey background, preferably sky only (as in no buildings, trees, etc.). I know I can always photoshop one and/or pull one from the RS file, but I do like original and therefore thought I'd ask if anyone's seen one.

I recommend you check the YJ auctions, the seller "sya50" has a number of good quality, affordable BGs every week. I just got a batch of 7 auctions from him and they're decent.
He's willing to ship internationlly too which helps those who have their own YJ accounts.

Two possibilities are hunting through Anime Museum's inventory. Go to the site, click "List All" then go to "Other Titles." The bgs are scattered throughout this site, which starts with miscellaneous cels and sketches but on p. 7 starts to show "hand painted backgrounds" aplenty.

Another is looking through Curt's big box of backgrounds at Anime Asylum's booth at the next con you attend. I'm sure he'd have a sunset. (You could even bang him an email to ask; I'm sure he wouldn't mind.)

Yeah, YJ is probably your best bet, but be prepared. Sunsets get bid on FAST. I know, because I've had to hunt some down. (Moon-in-the-night-skies and very complex backgrounds also provoke bidding wars.)

Takamura store - nicely coded site! I like the way cels/sketches are divided by date range, and then by show.

Sya50 just posted some background auctions today on YJ. One lot I spotted has a nice reddish orange sky background.

I have one but it goes with one of my cels. I know you want an actual background, but if you are unable to find one you like, I could make a scan for you.

It is all orange-gold sky. The cel it originally came with (a Devilman Lady) covers almost all of it, but was too nice not to use it elsewhere.

I remember seeing that auction but was thinking there was another one he was selling. Hmmmm, I wonder if it was on eBay where I saw that background? I'll try to find it again for you and let you know.

I don't know if he has any for sale at the moment, but I think that RX is the King of Backgrounds.

You might ask him nicely if he has time to dig through his stash for you. (There are a few others here too that often have bunches of nice backgrounds, but their names escape me at the moment.) Good luck, lancemet!
