You should've been around when the actual hardsuits were on eBay....eeek!!
Ah yeah... couple of thousand. I remember seeing those. They're displayed in a comic book shop in Baltimore or somewhere now I think.
I really like this particular cel (as an artist myself) because it looks like art that can stand on its own (I love the shadows), not just a fraction of a second in a film.
I totally agree with that statement . Quite a high amount of design sensibilities went into the image.
As to this thread, no worries Ghosty ^^. Just to let everyone know before posting, this issue is kind of getting resolved amongst ourselves. I should have posted that last night really before going to bed...
Y-y-you mean there were actual life-size hardsuits?!! o_O Now I want one!!! >_< But then again, I don't have any space for one! ^_^ I have some small figures of them all and one larger (10 to 12 inches) resin Priss in her hardsuit (assembled and well painted from some Japanese fan). It would be very handy to have my own real life fighting force though... >=)
They were created for promotional usage at the time. If you look on the extras on the remastered DVD boxset, you will also find a promo video where you can see the Priss one being worn by Oomori Kinuko while she's on a motorbike.
I've never been to Anime Expo, only Nan Desu Kan It's smaller but it's fun. I'm afraid if I go to a huge con like AX, my poor brain will probably melt, lol.
Hahaha... Ippo you crack me up XD. Do I have to put spring-loaded boxing gloves with a hidden rocket punch feature in your suit?
As to Boomers... hm, you know, I did see some pics of an excellent cosplay one once XD...
I've been to NDK twice and that's it... I don't really go out of my way to go to conventions. It was fun but I probably don't need to do it on a regular basis; I'd kind of like to go to Japan one day and see hundreds of wild cosplayers at TGS or something . Although, if someone gave me a Hard Suit I'd pretty much have to go to one more con, just for the fun of wearing it...
