Is this a repro sketch?

Post by Keropi »

Does this "W Wish" come with a production sketch or a Rilezu repro sketch? I can't tell. :messed :D

I'm not sure about this series but most of my rilezu's from the World of Narue and Ai Yori Aoshi came with the original producton genga's.

Haibene Renmei and a few other series the only saved genga's are those used for the rilezu's. All others were destroyed. :O

Now the one in this auction appears to me to be the original genga.

Interesting!

Well...it's nice seeing the sketch in the auction whether it's a production sketch or not. It DOES look like an actual production sketch though. :)

It does, but the thing that gives me pause is that the sequence number is written alongside the sketch of the character, rather than being up in the upper right corner. If it had been there when the douga was scanned for colorizing, then the computer artist would need to have brushed it out, and I don't think that the studio would have made extra work in this way.

The notes beside the characters are comments to the painter, and these might well have been written in after it was used to put the trace lines on the sheet of acetate. I have many dougas that were written over, sometimes extensively, in this way after they went through the trace-lines copy machine (basically a modified photocopier; you can often smell photocopy toner when you open cel bags).

But the writing and position of that "A1 Tome" is odd. It's possible that, being the only cel in that cut, no sequence number was put on the douga, just the cut number (OP-19).

Anyhow, it comes with the manufacturer's COA and it's pretty, so go for it! Even if it's a repro cel with a repro douga, it's well done.

Actually sensei, I belive the douga is located in the second picture, placed under the COA, and appears to have the sequence number in the normal position (an A1END by the looks of it) The picture you are referring to, looks like the genga, which commonly has large sequence numbers in an open space on the page :)

OK, I see now. Yes, on taking a look at the description, it does say that the lot includes both the genga and a douga. (原画・動画も付ã

Thanks for the info!

I wasn't planning on bidding on it, but it's good to know what it is. I'm curious about every noteworthy sketch I see on YJ. Every time I run across those I have to figure out what show they come from. That's why it takes me so long to go through YJ each day.

So this is one of those shows that allowed them to include production sketches eh? Interesting. I'm going to have to remember that.
