got this sailor moon cel in that the clothing layer was removeable, for some inexplicable reason the animator painted in pantys on her with writing on it (there is no way the writing could ever been seen, was covered by the clothing layer, maybe the animator was bored?)

so just wondering what the writing says

Uh, correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it says "hentai kamen" (Pervert mask). Sort of like a play on Tuxedo Kamen? Or maybe it's meant to mean that if someone actually found this cel layer, you deserve that title? ^^

Heh. And I was the one who sent Chris feedback on RS after his update wondering what the labels on the panties said.

Inquiring minds just had to know. I suspect there are more in-house jokes like this among animators than we know.

The Hentai Kamen character wore pantsu on his head. I never read the manga though:

OK: so the panties have the "Ultimate! Hentai Kamen" manga logo on them. So it implies that Stripper Minako is enough of a fan of this series that she's bought the commemorative panties that advertise it.

(Or, since this layer was not painted to be seen, it means that the douga artist or cel painter was such a fan of the series and used this means to preserve the proprieties among studio co-workers.)

Worth noting that the anatomically inexplicit "nude bank" cels painted by Madhouse as the bottom layer for Cardcaptor Sakura's costumes did not have "Hentai Kamen" panties added.

lol, so weird, it would be alot of work to paint something that detailed, realy makes you wondering what they were thinking, very funny, makes you wonder what other easter eggs like this animators have put into their work

LOL - it reminds me of a Sailor Moon cel I saw ages and ages ago where the little boy makes an 'elephant' for Chibi Usa. The screen cuts off without seeing his elephant, but the cel had his parts ... done in the shape of an elephant! XD

That, and the dream 'silly' cel I want from Sailor Moon - it is a shot of her English exam where Mr. (Can't remember the name) went to nampa... XD

Did that come with the original sketch? I'd be curious to see if that was on the sketch, or just free-hand added for fun...

nope not on the sketch, must have been something the cel painter came up with
