Welcome fellow Hotaru lover! :D I still consider myself relatively new as well, even though I've been collecting for two years now. You just never stop learning.

Hotaru is such a wonderful character, but so challenging and expensive to collect. I quickly learned from more experienced collectors how rare and expensive she is, but I'm glad for that and love the thrill and challenge. And hey, there's always even more expensive characters and series. (Rei Ayanami and Studio Ghibli, anyone?) Also, I'm a weird exception since as a whole I always have a laser-focused collecting taste, but I'd love to see what other characters you might branch out into as well!

Thank you very much for the Welcome.
I actually had to find out myself how difficult and expensive Sailor Saturn Cels are to find and buy, however i too have decided to not let that stop me. Haha.
Sailor Moon, like alot of girls in the world, has made a huge impact on my life. From the first time watching it when i was 5 years old till 23 year old me now, i have never once stopped loving, watching and collecting everything Sailor Moon. Its too magical to me to give up. Haha. So not only will i be working hard to collect Hotaru, but also other Sailor Scouts, Enemies and Youma! :D.
Im sure i will eventually get into collection other anime cels. Im already becoming obsessed with collecting cels! haha!
Its a good thing im used to expensive hobbies DX! (Japanese fashion is extremely pricey).

Thank you again for your advice and welcome! I Hope we can share our collections. <3

Welcome to Beta, and if you have a gallery there, welcome to Rubberslug too!

If you haven't already used their service, you should also look on Mandarake (www.mandarake.co.jp) as well. They feature Sailor Moon cels for auction at least once a month, and every so often they have some of Hotaru and her various incarnations. And then there's always the Big Web Auction that they run four times a year (then next will be in October). The BWA almost always has Sailor Moon cels and that's generally where you'll find the more pricey items.

There's also Yahoo japan, but you'll have to use a deputy service to buy those items. Every so often you can find some nice Sailor moon items there. Too bad the yen/dollar exchange rate is so poor...

I'm afraid I can't help you much in the way of Hotaru cels, but from my experience, the price for Sailor Moon cels has really skyrocketed since I started collecting in 2003. But there is still a lot of artwork around, even more so if you choose to collect artwork from lesser known titles.

Thank you so much for that info on Mandarake. I knew briefly about it but you've just opened my eyes up!!
I have bought a number of cels on Yahoo!Japan which i check everyday now, so hopefully im lucky and something im looking for pops up (Even though i want to buy them all!).
Funnily enough, i was 8 years old when i bought my first Sailor Moon cel. I loved the idea of collecting them so much but at that age, there was barely any information on the internet about Sailor Moon let alone Cels. I may be a bit late to the game but im still determined to have my collecting grow. :).

Thank you so much for your help, Bunny. <3

yes! i agree with Cutie as per the yen to dollar price exchange at buy it now and online auction. i started collecting in 2005. nowadays, some of my CG art costs almost just as much as a cel and i treat it like so.

a good example, the dealer i briefly mentioned in my con blog wanted to sell the cel to me for $425. 8O (sure, it was framed, was from the 1st season, and came with a matching background-- but yikes! Usagi wasn't even wearing her fuku-- just her school uniform. lol)

i didn't mention this earlier, but i do have a Link List in my gallery that features other sites that might help you find what you're looking for.
