Model sheets/settings from 80's toons animated in Japan

Post by Mackettric »

Looking for model sheets / settings (settei) from US cartoons animated in Japan in the 80's, like GI Joe, Jem, Inhumanoids (Marvel/Sunbow animated by Toei), or DIC shows like MASK, COPS, etc. Just looking for photocopies, doesn't have to be cels or originals.

Thanks for the reply. I've got the original Jem model book. The Marvel/Sunbow shows all had the model designs done in the US but the animation was all done in Japan and Korea. Animators in Japan needed the models, layouts and storyboards to do the animation. You can find settei sets of GI Transformers on YJ and Mandarake had a few auctions of GI Joe settings/models a few years ago.

DIC shows like MASK I believe had all of the model design and storyboards done by the animation company in Japan. MASK storyboards are the Japanese style ones. I've got a bunch of MASK model sheets with Japanese writing on them, so the Japanese artists must have been using them.

Just hoping to find some more model sheets. It's a shame so much of this artwork was just discarded after the production had wrapped.
