Looking for a geass sketch

Post by hgeek23 »

I'm hoping that someone could please point me in the right direction for acquiring a sketch of lelouch from code Geass. I have seen only a couple on rubberslug thus far and was wondering if anyone had advice on how to get a hold of one? I searched using rinkya on YJ but there are no geass sketches that i can find there.

Thanks!

Unfortunately, sketches from recent CGI series like these can be very hard to locate. If the studio did not release art to a dealer, often all you can hope for is batches of rough art presumably salvaged from an animator's trash basket. And for popular shows like Tsubasa, even these can be pricy. I have seen Code Geass art from time to time on Mandarake, however, so you might add that site to your trap line.

You could also try a dedicated search for character + series from Shopping Mall Japan's search. I don't believe you need to be registered with them to do so. Anyhow, here's Lelouch + Geass (sorry, no sketches). Once you've done one, though, you can click one of the other databases above or below to search another bidding site or store to see if you can turn something up.

I'd say be patient. Some of us who collect such series (like Princess Tutu or xxxHolic) spend years checking out auctions.

You might check with Goldknight. She had her sketches up for sale a little while ago. I'm not sure if she will sell now, but you could contact her.

Just be careful about those sketches that that YJ seller drew just to sell for the money. They drew an awful lot of them. I seen more sketches from that seller than genuine production sketches back when I was looking for sketches from the show.

Are you serious? *shakes head* And I thought it was bad that this is a problem with fake cels ... but now we've got fake sketches -- was the seller actually trying to pass them off as real?

Yeah, they were and had been doing it for a number of years. It was the seller we were talking about in the speakeasy section. I didn't want to talk about it here because then the seller would adjust his methods and then would be harder to detect. It would become harder to tell where they were coming from. But the sketches were pretty distinctive in appearance.. I don't know if they are even posting stuff on YJ anymore. I haven't looked for production artwork for about a year, but before a year ago there were more Code Geass artwork from that YJ seller than all the other public website sellers that I knew of combined. They made many thousands of dollars off of only drawing Code Geass sketches alone.

And there were a lot of deputy bidders for that sellers sketches through the years too. It's too bad. I paid quite a bit for the ones I got. :(

The Mandarake Code Geass sketches that I seen back then didn't look anything like the Code Geass sketches I seen from that YJ seller.

Wow. That's.... sheesh. Amazing. Out of sheer curiosity, would you mind PMing me the info on that seller, Keropi, since I do not have nor do I want access to the Speakeasy? I'm just really curious if I know the username. :?
