Actually, it can. If enough pressure is applied or the sketch isn't moved periodically, the pencil from the sketch will stick to the bag or sleeve of the book it's stored in. Unfortunately, I've seen this happen.
In answering your question, I use both sides of my Itoya books for cels and sketches and store them vertically. Sketch sets are stored differently. I currently have them in boxes.
This is what I am afraid of then.. See I originial stored them all in boxes but the problem is I like to take them out and view them and flipping through an ITOYA is nice and easy verses a sketch box... Not sure what to do then..

I usually put cel on one side and sketch on the other side.
I do the same, placing the sketch for the cel on the right side matching cel on the left. The first and last pages are for images without matching cel/sketch.
