Bleeding cels
Have you ever seen a bleeding cel? What I mean is have you seen or heard about a cel where the paint bleeds through another color? I am looking at a cel and I do like it but it looks as if the paint of a lower level color is bleeding through an upper level color and I was wondering if this is something that has been know to happen.

I have something similar. I have a cel that has been stuck to its background for a long time and the colors of the background are starting to bleed into the colors of the cel. I am not quite sure what to do about it. I am sure to damage both the cel and the BG by trying to separate them since they are very firmly attached, but in the meantime the bleeding continues.

Yes it does, though, fortunately not often. Here's a cel where one of the paints was unusually unstable:

If you look at the arch of the building to the right of the giant Kero-chan, you'll see that the band of pink paint in the center has caused a lot of trouble. The trace lines have blurred into it at the very bottom of the image, and then about half way up (opposite Kero's wing) you can see the blue paint of the sky, which was laid on heavily on the back, has bled through, causing a darker patch to form in the middle of the arch.
Paint sometimes goes bad, too. This cel has its own problems, but it's not bleeding:

Look at the white paint used for the curlique collar, and you'll see the same problem: darker pink splotch forming in the middle. Only problem is that there was no paint used on the back of this part of the cel, so the paint itself is going bad. I wondered for a long time if this cel had somehow experienced damage in its journey to me (it sold on eBay, and then I got it later from the purchaser, Cherry Snow). Then the immediate sequence-buddy sold earlier this month on YJ. I didn't go for it, but I saved the scan because it showed ...

... yep, paint deterioration in exactly the same place and color.

Thanks Sensei. Here is the link to the piece I am thinking about getting from anime-link.
http://www.anime-link.com/yuyu/
It is the first cel you see yu02. You can see the bleeding coming through the light blue shirt and even on the left side of the lower face. At first I thought it might have been a fake but anime-link is one of the more respectable dealers in my book so I dought it. I then watched the show and found that it is indeed the actual cel. That is why I possed my question.

Yeah, I thought at first that it might be deliberate painting, but around the waist the colors definitely look like they are "muddy" in the way they would if there was bleeding rather than a deliberate effect. Also on both sleeves, and I don't see any artistic reason for the blue spots on the sides of the face. I assume you don't see any of this in the DVD version?
I once had a MKR cel of Nova that I thought had been rather clumsily retouched by a previous owner. There was extensive, broad use of a marker pen on the front side. Then when I found the cel on my DVD, I was surprised to see that the broad black overmarking was done before it was photographed, not after.
Anyhow, the price seems quite reasonable for a cel of this intensity, and the background adds a lot to the impact. I'd be tempted to buy it anyhow. From the low number (yu 02) it looks to have been for sale for quite a while, with many other YYH fans seeing the problem and passing on it. So the price is likely a clearance discount.

I've purchased a bleeding cel from Anime Link before. Unfortunately, there isn't a discount for this damage, or at least, not when I purchased the cel several years ago.
My worse bleeder is this one - http://cutiebunny.rubberslug.com/galler ... mID=263109
Galaxia was originally paired with a freshly painted dark background, which, sadly, bled into the hair. The previous owner never separated the two, and used an old picture of the cel when selling it on YJ.
